STAYING YOUNG

The last couple of days I have been helping with auditions for future hosts and social hosts for QVC.  There are some very talented people who would like to do this job and it has been interesting getting to know them.

As I was having lunch with some of them today it occurred to me that several of these talented young people are around half my age.  At 56 years young I am the oldest of the QVC hosts.  But I don’t feel like I am 56.  Because of some great QVC products like Zumba Fitness Exhilarate, the Total Gym Platinum edition and P90X I am in the best shape of my adult life.  But I think the real key to staying young begins someplace deeper than our physical appearance and shape.

Our attitude determines so much of the way that we live our lives.  The longer I live the more I realize that attitude is more important than so many other things in life.  A wise man named Charles Swindoll once wrote that attitude is more important than even education and income.  It can make or break any organization including a business, a church or even a family.

As I am sitting here in the host lounge at QVC getting ready to present an hour of Zumba Fitness, I am asking myself questions like:   What kind of an outfit they are going to ask me to where today?   Will I pull any muscles while I am doing the dance moves?  What if I look like an old guy trying to be young?  But the answer I keep coming back to is: who cares?  I’m going to go out there and dance my shoes and socks off because it is FUN, I LOVE it and it makes me FEEL GREAT while helping me to stay in shape.

So that’s how I’m working on my ATTITUDE today.  I actually carry a copy of Mr. Swindoll’s “Attitude” around with me because he really shares some powerful ideas about how our attitude shapes every day of our lives.  He concludes by saying that none of us can really control all the things that happen to us in life but the one thing we can control is our attitude.  Everyday we have the opportunity to play that one important card in our deck.  I try to think about that as often as possible.  May your attitude today and your faith help you to make it one of the best days of your life!
