What Does Your Handbag Say About You?

by on ‎03-28-2013 12:41 PM

How many times do we say, "Lead with the bag!". The handbag is the most visible accessory we wear, as it's generally the largest. This week we decided to take four of our "Looks" and decide what the bag for each look "says" about the woman wearing it. Hey, maybe we could rename this blog, "The Bag Whisperer." (I hope you know I'm not serious on that one. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin})

The first look is called "Get the Scoop" and features an orYANY bagthe smallest of the four we're highlighting. It's sleek, clean, and pared down, but has a signature hardware piece in the front. The woman who carries a bag like this is either extremely organized or low maintenance, as this bag carries more than a clutch, but clearly some decisions have to be made. The hardware on the front says she may be efficient, but she still loves fashion. A bag this size is usually carried by someone who's changing her bag more often, and, is therefore willing to make the extra effort to ensure the bag is always perfect. When attempting to "speak" handbag, remember—it's like spelling. There are always exceptions. This could also be a high-maintenance woman like me on a quick lunch trip cheating on her big bag, but not for long. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

The second look is "Dress Like a Diva" and incorporates an Aimee Kestenberg tote. This is the most "outspoken" of the three bags. This is a woman who likes to make an entrance. She likes a status look, but doesn't want it to be too low key. She might also be a woman who wants to stand out in a business environment, as the bag is tailored but visible. Plus, its size and shape allows her to carry paperwork and personal items. If you compliment her on her bag, you'll make her day.

The third look is "City Living" and features a personal favorite, the G.I.L.I.(TM) Roma Tote, which comes in two sizes: the medium and the large. This is a bag for a woman who likes to invest in high quality, timeless pieces. It's a bag that's about the leather instead of the hardware, which makes it a timeless piece. This is a bag that's at home on the streets of New York or the streets of Milan. And, it will be just as sophisticated in 10 years as it is now. The woman who carries this has a busy life and may need to carry a lot of things in her bag on any given day. She can't be bothered with changing her bag every day, she needs a luxury "workhorse". Also, a woman who needs a bag that she can throw on, fill up, feel good with, and never worry about.

The Madame Attaché look is one that uses the Dooney & Bourke Dillen Small Leather Satchel. Again, this is a look for a woman who invests in high-end, timeless bags, but is ok with a little more structure. It's for a woman who wants to make a statement with the brand and the style, but does not want something too showy. If you want understandable and high-end, everyone knows Dooney. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Madame Attache

Even though we're talking about bags here, the featured items in these "Looks" are the T-Shirt I'm wearing in my profile pic on my FB page as well as the cover of the QVC's InsideQ. We also have a brand-new jacket that makes your waist look smaller plus a great long, maxi dress for transitioning into Spring…if it ever comes.

Of course, we've got something brand-new in beauty and beautiful jewelry, as well. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow night at 10pm ET for The Lisa Robertson Show. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}
