Come see us at the Barn: The Exploding Trend – Outdoor Living!

Talk about “exploding” at Valley Forge Flowers, we have outgrown our 7,000 square feet of floral and retail store! This gave me the perfect reason to create a new space to celebrate my love of outdoor living and here it is - The Barn at Valley Forge Flowers. Under one very large roof – complete with a silo - we hope The Barn will inspire everyone to take advantage of the outdoors in their own backyard and to create exceptional outdoor living areas.

The Barn features everything comfortable and stylish that you might want inside your home that is actually created for outdoor living – tables, chairs, sofas, lighting, linens, pillows, plants, plates, stemware…And creating these spaces is as easy as imagining them.

These are my steps to taking advantage of your own outdoor spaces:

Have an area in mind – whether it is a patio space, leveled area on your lawn or a deck. You do not need a structured area or building. Be sure that this space is easily accessible – right outside your door. Take into consideration outdoor elements such as light, wind, and view.

Create your “ground space” i.e. an outdoor floor rug, mat or gravel to center your area. This is an instant way to create your platform – the space that will tie everything together.

Think comfort – how you like to live. Select what will be the focal point of the space – fire pit, chat/dining area, living space – and then as you would inside your home, select large neutral pieces and work around them.

Have fun with accent pieces – pillows, throws, glassware, serving trays, plates, side tables, lanterns – you name it. Making any space “yours” will make it that much more wonderful!
