How-to Make an Over-the-Door School Supply Organizer

by on ‎09-05-2014 04:19 PM

Hi, everyone!

How is school going for your kids? Are they still having fun? My kids have another few months before the days seem to start earlier, the homework gets tougher, and the “love” really starts to fade. But the chaos has officially hit the Bauer house and their school stuff is EVERYWHERE. Luckily, I anticipated this.  And, before school began, I created a school supply organizer for the pencils, crayons, markers, and supplies.

Okay, I may or may not have also wanted to feature this project on You’re Home with Jill so I had to make it before school began. But, it's it awesome! That’s an over-the-door shoe organizer. I use these everywhere in my home…in my closet for shoes and accessories, in the kids’ rooms for their toys, and I’ve even seen them used in the pantry to hold spices, kitchen utensils, and foods. So, I thought, why couldn’t I make a school supply organizer?

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Shoe organizer with clear plastic pockets

  • Scrapbook paper or card-stock

  • Label maker

  • Double-sided tape

  • School supplies

And to assemble, measure the inside of clear pockets and cut your scrapbook paper or card-stock to size. Insert the paper and adhere each piece with a piece of double-sided tape. Decide how you would like supplies to be organized, make the labels for each pocket, and adhere them to the front of each pocket.
