Decorate the Deck!

by on ‎04-07-2014 01:21 PM

Spring is in full swing in the South and we are eagerly awaiting it in the Northern states - perhaps it will arrive in earnest this week.  A big day at our house is “Planting Day”, the day we can safely plant our tomatoes, geraniums, etc...without losing them to frost.

In my neck of the woods, the day in which we can safely plant is May 15th, so between now and then I can “think” about how I’ll change things up this year. I’m a big planter girl.  Whether it’s geraniums, cherry tomatoes (so sweet when they are ripe) or taller ivy and hibiscus plants to add height - I love pretty planters!  They make such a difference as a decorative element.  And today they are made from a great variety of materials with lots of colors to choose from.  I’m partial to terra cotta with interesting details and also brightly colored glazed pots that bring color to my deck - colors that I can’t achieve as well in flowers such as cobalt blue and my ever go-to black!

We are bringing you something very special today, April 8th that I can’t wait to add to my deck and patio planters this year - our Set of 3 Mercury Glass Spheres with Garden Stakes (H202225).

The adjustable stakes allow you to vary the heights of your spheres and they come with hangers too, which makes them so versatile. The colors are amazing: amber, chocolate, ocean blue, green and silver! These are the colors that will layer into your patio and deck decor by day and beautifully illuminate a pathway, garden bed or planter by night. I couldn’t wait. So, on a recent sunny day, I put a silver set in a planter on my deck and an amber sphere in the container on the table - just to see. Check out the photo below...they add so much! I love these and know you will too!

Because the stake is removable they can sit on any flat surface - inside or out! Oh, and did I mention they come with hangers? You will love these! Here's a photo of our deck last year...when everything was green! Won’t it look so much better this year when we add beautiful mercury glass spheres to the planters?

For the past several years I’ve had a yellow umbrella - you can see the true color reflected in the glass doors. Even on a rainy day it brings a cheerful pop of color and completes our more primary color scheme. The large ivy topiaries, we bring inside for the winter and even though they don’t do nearly as well inside, they perk up nicely when we take them back outside.

Happy decorating!

Blessings,

Valerie
