My Time with Mary Beth - Week of Dec. 5

by on ‎12-05-2011 03:30 PM

My husband had knee surgery this past week, so it became my job to decorate the outside of our house for the first time in 28 years of marriage! Mark has always been the one to climb the ladder and hang big wreaths on the front of our house and put lights in different areas. But this year, it was my turn, and I'm not very good on ladders. So I decided to get the Bethlehem Lights netting lights and put them on all our shrubs across the front of the house. I like to stay close to the ground!

It looks great, even if I do say so myself! Thank goodness they're battery-operated, so they turn on at 5 p.m. each evening and off at 11 p.m. Of course, we also have Valerie Parr Hill's wreath on the front door, and some other Bethlehem Lights decorations out there, too, so I feel proud of myself. See, you have to understand I'm an "indoors" girl, not an "outdoors" girl, so it gave me a new challenge. Now this week the kids and I will decorate the tree we also got from QVC a few years ago, put up the nativity scene, add my Candle Impressions battery-operated candles, and I'll be done. Oh yes, I also have the lit garland already around the banister at the stairs.

I do it for myself, but especially for the kids. Every year, no matter how old they get, their faces light up when the house gets decorated inside and out. I still haven't had the time to make cookies, but I will this week. In fact, after My Time with Mary Beth this Wednesday morning at 9 a.m., we'll have a live studio audience for a Quacker Factory show with a cookie exchange taking place. Can you guess what kind of cookie I'm making for the cookie exchange? Make sure you tune in that morning to find out! The recipe will be on QVC's website that day. I can't wait to try everyone's cookies! I wonder what kind of cookie Angel Smedley will be bringing? Yum!

In our countdown on My Time with Mary Beth, we'll be counting down two QVC shopping weeks 'til Christmas this Wednesday, so it's decision time. We'll have great gift ideas for you, so I hope you can join me Wednesday at 9 a.m.!  Have a terrific week! We have much to be thankful for, so don't forget, we need to be...

Counting our Blessings,

Mary Beth Roe
