Holiday Dressing. And I'm not talking turkey!

For those of us who prefer to attend a holiday party rather than throw one, we can be relieved that we don't have to answer the question of “what to serve”. However, as important for those of us who don't cook (or cook well), there's the more urgent question of “what to wear”. Holiday parties with friends and business associates often mean that we'll be seeing some of the same people a few times over the course of events. So how can you stretch your fashion wardrobe further and not break the bank by having a totally different outfit for each occasion? Think accessories! Scarves, handbags, shoes and, most importantly, jewelry not only complete your look, they have the ability to completely change the character of an outfit and, therefore, help you sparkle - and stretch a fashion budget.

If you've seen any of the fashion runway or red carpet coverage this season, you know that color is hot. The rich shades of blue, purple and red are everywhere, and mid to deep green shades are pulling in a close second. Well, if you have a closet full of black and brown pieces from previous seasons, don't despair! Bring in the hottest fashion colors with your accessories. Take a look at the Chelsea Taylor fashion ring to add a splash of great color to your hands or if you prefer a necklace, the Or Paz Gemstone Cluster in Amethyst or Garnet would look great with an open blouse or over a sweater. If you own some of the hot fashion colors already, don't be afraid to mix it up a bit. The contrast of a green top with the rich hues of amethyst work beautifully.

Ladies who love a more formal style of dressing up and prefer to stick to classics, and the neutral palettes of black and white, are also in luck this season. Classic formality remains very popular. The mix of black and white makes a striking contrast as well as an amazingly chic, fashion statement. Partner your “little black dress with a pair of black and white diamonique hoops. This classic hoop style will be incredibly wearable throughout the year for parties, as well as professionally. Partner that outfit with a bold Affinity Diamond 1 carat total weight white and Skylit black diamond ring and you'll be sure to turn those casual party-goers into awestruck onlookers!

One fashion style that I love, and suggest often to the celebrities that I work with, is layering. Whether we're talking bracelets, rings or necklaces, layering allows you to take various elements, many of which you may already own, and mix them together with something new to create a dramatic and impressive look. Don't be shy to mix in a strand of Honora pearls or frame your “signature” pendant by adding on longer chains around it. For holidays and beyond, think about doing this with the Diamonique sterling by the yard necklaces, especially in some of the longer lengths. Or, if you prefer a holiday “jingle” layer on some great bangles like the Illustra sterling set of 5. Layering pieces together allows you to create a bigger, bolder look without having to buy one large signature piece. It's also more versatile in the long run.

Showing your great style during the holidays doesn't always mean that you have to know how to whip up the perfect soufflé, nor does it mean that you have to have a closet full of party outfits. Stylish and versatile looks can be achieved, and you can maximize each outfit if you get cooking on your jewelry wardrobe.

Style Tip: Consider giving your outfit maximum impact by grouping 2 - 3 brooches of a similar theme together. Clusters of leaves or insects or a nice layering of vintage styles placed on a shoulder, lapel or on a fabric detail provide a focal point and show great style!
