I love decorating with “real flowers” for a party. They really make a setting festive and I can usually find fresh flowers for great prices at local farmer's markets. I bought a flat of a dozen orchid plants in a variety of white and pink shades for a recent bridal shower.
Another thing I love for a party is a “signature drink”. In keeping with my orchid theme, I thought it would be fun to try Edible Orchids. I’d never used edible flowers before, but they were very easy to find online. I was even able to order them in the pink color I wanted.
I used the edible orchids as a garnish in my signature cocktails, and as an ice mold decoration in my punch. The flowers made the drinks pretty. And a pretty drink always tastes better.
Using orchids on my tables and in my guests glasses worked really well. And if you’re wondering what edible orchids taste like--they taste like slightly sweet lettuce! :-)
