Women Helping Women - Dress for Success

by on ‎10-15-2014 03:03 PM

Recently I had the honor of speaking to a group of QVC employees that won a contest for a make-over in conjunction with our stylists department – and Dress for Success.  This is a charity that is near and dear to my heart.

The Philadelphia affiliate of Dress for Success has assisted more than 16,000 women since 2008, by providing underprivileged women professional attire, a network of support, and career development tools to thrive in work and in life – all free of charge.

 The girls who won at the Q were very excited to get consulatations on their wardrobe, hair and make-up from our amazing QVC Stylists.  Here I am with my own stylist extrodinaire:  Angelo!

Here, the winners and I are listening to Angelo explain the events of the morning.

I was able to speak to the ladies to explain my particular style and how I have used it to make a clear "brand" for myself here at QVC.  I also told them how I would love to be more "edgy" and "bohemian" but when I try those looks, I am not comfortable - and that comes through loud and clear.  I have found that the best thing to do when dressing and styling yourself is to know yourself - and be true to what you know feels right!  And, with that confidence - come success!

Then, each winner was paired with a stylist to discuss their own personal style and how they can use their tips to pick the best colors and styles of clothing, hair and make-up to enhance their appearance.

Last year, at the Pennsylvania Women's Conference in Philadelphia they asked all of the women that were attending to bring in donations for this great organization. The women from PA were so generous that we actually overflowed the Dress for Success closets!{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}  I love girls helping each other out!!!{#emotions_dlg.wub}

This year, we are attending the conference again and they have asked for donations this time of just handbags and jewelry. I can tell you those two small accessories can make a huge difference in how a woman feels about an outfit - and could be the difference between her being confident enough to get that new job she has been dreaming of!

If you are coming to the convention on Thursday October 16th, donation bins will be located at the conference registration area, where you can drop off your donations of new and gently used professional accessories, such as Handbags and Jewelry.  Please also stop by the Dress for Success booth at the conference for more information or visit Dress For Success Philadelphia

And, please make sure to visit our QVC Booth and try to catch me at my Break Out Session.  It is truly an honor and a privilege to be asked to speak for the second year running.  This is an amazing organization and I encourage you to LIKE their Facebook page too.

No matter what the organization or the event, when we women lift each other up, we all WIN!!! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

All my best,

Albany
