One of My Other Lives

When I'm not at QVC or prepping for an appearance, I'm on set styling, shooting and more.

Thought I'd share a little window into a morning on set!  It's a behind the scenes glimpse for an editorial that will appear in the pages of ELLE this fall! So stay tuned to see the final results when it debuts.

Here's a little snippet of MY process the day of the shoot…

I still get giddy walking into the space and looking at all the FABULOUS pieces. It's a little slice of heaven.

On a shoot day, I like to arrive early and get right to work.

My styling area is set up with racks of clothes, tables of jewelry, hats, belts, leg wear, eye wear and shoes lined along the racks, and everything else you can imagine. I try to keep everything visible so i can see all my options to make the magic happen. Once we've gathered all of our pieces and the materials are in play it's all about the edit with my team. This is the fun part! My technique is pretty close to the styling process I use for our on air shows at QVC which is why I love my styling table!)

I start to go through the racks of clothes, pulling together outfits for the shoot. I then share my vision with hair, makeup and of course the photographer, they are capturing the subject and truly make the shoot come to life...

Styling an Editorial is a full on collaboration, just like creating my line  LOGO, it takes a village of artists: hair, makeup, models, set designers and of course stylists. We are prepping and on our feet all day long...

When we've decide the concept and direction, that's when I get to go for it. I then meet with my styling team to cover key looks from the designers and magazine, source and find all of my favorite looks of the season and then some. I love to be prepared with as many options to visually tell the story! Here are some behind the scenes shots and a little window into my editorial styling process. Hope you love!
