A QVC Photo Shoot - How Do You Say Cheese?

Today was a fun day! It was time for new QVC publicity shots, so I was the "model". The planning that goes into creating a photo spread is amazing. You might think it's a simple point and shoot, but it is quite an elaborate production. Not only is there a photographer, but an entire team of talented people who make it all happen.

It started with my "story board" -- a compilation of pictures with colors, styles and attitudes crafted by Carol, our Creative Director. It was an outline of how we would convey the essence of who I am and what I like. Her vision was terrific and made it easy for me to relax and have fun.

Of course, with any photo shoot, proper lighting is a must. The light was not aimed directly at me. It actually hit the silver umbrella and then bounced back to me. This is what's known as "soft lighting" and is most flattering. I bet it's safe to assume that most women over thirty-something would appreciate soft lighting.

Great care is taken when it comes to what to wear. Working with Toi, our Senior Fashion Stylist, was great. She did a fabulous job choosing my outfits. Here is one of the "casual" looks we went with. I love the safari jacket, striped shirt and of course, you know this girl loves her heels.

And what photo shoot would be complete without a hair and make-up stylist on set? Not only did Dina get me camera ready, but she stayed the whole time and made adjustments as needed. My hair and lipstick needed a few touch-ups.

Then the fun was on! Carol has such a knack for bringing out raw, genuine emotion, smiles and laughter. I would love to tell you some of the fun ice breakers we played, but I don't want to spoil the fun and surprise for the other hosts. But I can tell you that I explained (in great detail) how I would assemble the "perfect" taco and what super power I would choose.

Upbeat music played in the background and truth be told, I busted more than one move ...... we all did! The mood was light and fun and we were really happy with the outcome.

Keep smiling and I'll "see" you in the morning!

All my best,

Leah
