Beauty Obsession: At a Gloss for Words 15 PC Lip Gloss Set

I love a good adventure. I love making the old new again.  I take a look at this Tarte Lip Gloss collection and I think “Wow that’s a lot of good lookin’ lip gloss” or “That’s a new lip gloss every day for two weeks!” There’s something to be said for change that doesn’t require a lot of change.  I love this set for a number of reasons:

  • If you have your makeup routine down pat, this is a good way to change it up all while staying true to you.

  • The gloss colors are done in berries, mauves, and shades of pink that are sure to compliment any skin tone and makeup regime.

  • The texture and gloss is long lasting.  This isn’t that gloss that gets there before you do.  Sometimes I feel like gloss can be so slippery on my lips, I feel like I should be checking my teeth every few minutes.  This is a thicker gloss that’s a one coat wonder and gives the appearance of smoother lip texture.  The actual color is this one that comes out of the bottle… which is a huge home run for all of us that are trying the line for the first time.

  • It’s a great potential gift but I’ll be honest; it’s hard to give away.  For those of you who are better than I am, give as a blockbuster set, breakup into stocking stuffers, or breakup as gifts for tweens to give to their girlfriends at around the $11 price point.

PM STYLE:

I’m going to go ahead and call favorites on Isaac’s velvet jacket coming up in our show tonight.  I love a good classic piece with fabric to die for.  When I was in NYC for fashion week in September, one of the biggest FALL looks I saw in retail stores around the city was the look of key fashion and accessories done in crushed velvet fabrics.  I feel in love.  It looked expensive and tasteful and that’s exactly why I love this look.

Project Runway All Stars:

This week’s theme- Cocktail dresses.  We all have that one dress in our wardrobe that just makes us feel like it was made for us… what does your favorite cocktail dress look like and how long have you had it?

Irina- I loved your dress! The gold and silver just melted my heart.  However, I felt like when the model turned around I was looking at two different dresses.  The cut of the jacket in the front and the back was distracting and took away from the incredible work in the front.  Pick one style and go with it.

Christopher- I love a good nod to the 20s.  It was elegant and dainty.  Any gal would feel like a million bucks in your dress.

Michael- Your floral details were STUNNING! The color of the dress could capture anyone’s heart.

Jeffrey- Although your competitors were calling your burnout fabric outdated, I thought it came off as sultry and romantic.  Your cutting detail did look oversized on your model and that made me sad.

Elena- I feel like we have seen this cutout work from you before. The seaming detail added a nice element to the dress that screams $$$.  I would have preferred to see something more out of the box from you; you’ve got this look down.  On a side note, I know that dress would be front and center in a major department store window.

Seth Aaron- You’re cocktail dress was HOT! Any gal could own the room in that dress.

Melissa-I liked the overall structure and design on her dress.  The yellow on the back was a nice pop of color and surprise.  I feel like in terms of actually wearing this piece to a cocktail party, this would be a standing room only piece and that’s it.

Korto- I thought you had one of the best prints of the night.  While I appreciated you making your own belt from scratch to give your model a waist, It literally looked like you caged her on the front of the dress.  Not a fan.  I am a fan of the high-low hem design that you pulled off.  Very couture.

Viktor- Your dress was incredible!  The piecework was divine.  And even though I didn’t see the tiger’s eye inspiration… who cares!
