Hello, Quackers! We are so excited to take you on a little tour “behind the seams” of how our Quacker Factory fashions come to life! Thanks to everyone who voted and picked their favorite floral design. I thought all 3 designs were beautiful, but I especially LOVE the winning design!
Well, we all have been busy at work ever since the contest – especially John, our wonderful Lead Design Artist! I always talk about John on the air. It’s time for you ladies to meet him and take a peek at how he works his Quacker magic! Enjoy!!
My name is John Shrader, and I’ve been making women “sparkle and shine” with the Quacker Factory for the past ten years. My job gets more and more fun every day! I remember what Jeanne Bice used to say to me every time we worked on floral designs for our fashions: “Johnny, stop drawing so many daisies!”
Fortunately for you all, I’ve broadened my horizons a bit! It’s an honor for me to carry on her design philosophy.
Flowers were always special to The Quacker Factory for a lot of reasons. First of all, they represented the newness of Spring, a fresh start, and nature’s rainbow of colors, but most of all to me they represent happiness! When you see a beautiful flower in bloom, you can’t help but smile!
I dabble a bit in gardening myself. My garden here in upstate New York is in full bloom in May – and I’ve snapped a few pictures for you to see my daffodils! They are gorgeous this year! I just had to add them to this design!
But my favorite designs were always when I got to mix together ALL the beautiful flowers and colors into one design, just like the Quacker Factory Pen and Ink Floral Fantasy!
I always start with what I call “rough design sketches” – like the ones you see here.
I take whatever is inspiring me, in this case it was my own garden, and I put my vision onto paper. When I have something that is beautiful, I blow the design up true to size.
This will become what we call the “finished art” that will be sent to the manufacturer.
When I’m happy with the way everything looks on paper, I send it off to Leslie, another member of the Quacker Factory Design Team, who finalizes everything to be sent off to the manufacturer to make the “1st Sample.” You will meet her on our next “Behind the Seams” blog installment. So keep checking in with us to see how the Quacker Factory Pen and Ink Floral Fantasy is progressing. Bye for now! Time to do some more coloring!
