The Inspiration Behind Inspired Style

by on ‎04-10-2013 03:15 PM

Inspired Style is one show that allows you at home to truly interact with us here in the studio.  Your feedback is at the very heart of the show - what you love and what inspires you.  Even our models chime in with how much they love what they are wearing, or how they would style a piece! It seems only natural to give you a behind the scenes look at the show that you love to stay up late to watch every week.  So here’s an inside take on all the backstage action that happens during the show...from my perspective.  I'm Kate by the way, and I’m the one chatting with you all during Inspired Style on Amy's Facebook page. As you can imagine, I am in the middle of the action, just off to the side of the set, watching the live show unfold.  I get to attend pre-production meetings, where we discuss everything - from which bag to dress the set with, to what outfit Amy is going to wear!  Everything is carefully planned out, and we read all of your comments, pictures, and fashion tips from Twitter and Facebook.  The "inspiration" goes both ways - you really are a member of the Inspired Style team and we love to hear what you are saying, what you are wearing, and where you are wearing it.  So keep the comments coming!  Here's a quick look at some of the people you don't always see that are helping to make the show happen behind the scenes.

Here is our Managing Producer, Beverley, and Coordinating Producer, John.  Both of them are a lot of fun and have great insight as to how they want the show to look.  They partner with Amy to make sure she likes the feel of the show each week and that she is happy with the format.  Beverly is in charge of the overall look and flow of the show and if something isn't working or something needs be adjusted she makes the call!

Beverly meets with several other departments each week to make decisions on every aspect of the show - whether it’s social media, production, video, or apparel.

John partners with Beverly and takes her plans for the show and makes sure they happen on the night of the show by producing the show from the studio floor.  John follows her rundowns, notes, and ideas, and helps to convey them to the team to make sure everybody is on board.  He’s the one making those ideas happen during the show.

Our line producer, Erica, is in charge of the timing and flow of the show from start to finish each week.  Erica makes sure we hit each segment on time; she monitors the line-up of the show, and communicates our plan to Amy in real-time.  This allows Amy to keep you updated at home so you know what’s coming up next, and also it helps Amy to get a feel for what items you ladies really love during the show.  She also makes sure we stay on track so we can see each item in the show without running out of time - that hour can fly by pretty fast!

Next we have our steadicam operator, Jay, who does an excellent job of following the models and Amy back and forth in the set and getting those unique camera shots that would be impossible with our robotics cameras.  Since Inspired Style has so much movement as compared to other shows, we give Jay free reign to be able to capture every possible angle of the set.  It also lends to a more personal and intimate feel - it allows Amy to feel like she is really connecting with you at home.

Behind the camera in the control room is the man who calls the shots, the camera shots that is.  It's Eric, our director.  Eric is responsible for deciding what camera shot goes on air and planning out each shot in order to get the best look of Amy, the models, and the product.  He coordinates every movement with Jay, constantly directing him to move one way or the other, to allow our robotic cameras to shoot closer detail than the steadicam can get.

Also in the picture is Andrew, our studio coordinator.  Andrew is in constant communication with the producers and director to ensure that the models  are on the set, the right product is on the set, and the product is properly displayed.  He also assists guests with their setup needs, helping them to give you at home the best possible look at their product.

Finally we have our fashion stylists and our set stylists. Jillian is one of our fashion stylists and she picks out the outfits for Deanna and Iris to wear each week.  She is standing off to the side of the set, mixing and matching scarves, bags, and jewelry to create a unique look each time on the models.  Since we need the models quickly on our set, she styles them only feet from the set.  This allows her to react quickly to either your comments at home or an inspiring look that Amy really loves.

Hillary and Liam are in charge of the set's appearance each week.  The set of Inspired Style is like that cool boutique that you walk in to and just want to touch and try on every item in the store.  Hillary and Liam are the creative geniuses behind that look! From the way the mannequins are dressed, to the bags draped on the walls, right down to the jewelry placed on the vases or picture frames, that is all their handy work!.

So that is just a sneak peek at some of the crew in the studio who work on Inspired Style.  There are countless other departments and faces who contribute to the show; these are just the ones that I have the pleasure of hanging out with in the studio. We have a lot of fun, and everyone’s ideas are welcome. We hope we inspire your wardrobe, and we would love to hear some of your inspiring ideas!  And if you've never seen the show, CLICK HERE to see some of our inspiring styles!
