Color Blocking & Classic Designs

With modern technology and today's fast-paced environment, it's easy to forget the simple pleasures in life. A handwritten note or holiday card is more heartfelt than our modern day e-mail. Sharing the joy of decorating cookies or holiday crafting with young ones bonds family and friends. These are the fond memories and traditions that can be passed down through generations.

Like holiday tradition, fashion is bringing back styles that were popular years ago. As the saying goes, "Everything old is new again!"

The sleek lines and color blocking of A226166 is reminiscent of Yves Saint Laurent's Mondrian color block dress of 1965, while A218750 reminds me of Grace Kelly, and now of course Kate Middleton! The animal print in A229135 emulates the leopard print worn by Jacqueline Onassis Kennedy, designed by Oleg Cassini in the 60's.

As a fashion designer for 30 years, I have seen trends come and go, and recycled in modern ways. Lately, many of my prints and designs are recreated from those that were popular in the 60's, 70's and 80's, but with a new twist and updated, figure flattering styling.

Do you have any Susan Graver pieces from the past that you have rediscovered or still wear today? What about fashion tips passed down from your mother or grandmother? Any special holiday traditions you celebrate with your family? I'd love to hear from you!

Please join me Thursday, December 6th at 9am ET for fabulous holiday designs!

Xoxo,

Susan

I have been buying your line of clothing from the very beginning. I do miss the original peachskin though. The feel of the new fabric is not the same. The old peachskin had a silky hand to it and this one does not. The new one is crepier feeling. I do love your big shirts and tunic length tops for work--they are so comfortable. Please, please see if you can go back to the original peach skin. I used to get so many complements on them and people would just cover and touch my arm to feel the fabric (but that's not why I liked them).

Thank you for your easy care fashions. Love 'em!!

I love Susan Graver's general style, Good basic design.

Negatives:

Many of the items are too long for shorter people, ie basic gored skirts, which are very difficult to shorten. (Must be taken up at the waist which requires adressmaker skills. Many of the colors are too dark, bright, intense for us lighter "summer" color people. Need to have more of lighter blues, greens, camels, rose, gray, teals, etc even in the winter time. Also, many of us older women are larger waisted, even though we would normally wear a 14-16, the waist lines are too small. Need womens sizes down to a 14. (IE, check Dress Barn sizes) Nee women short sized pants and jeans with larger waists, and firmer fabrics.

If the sizes and colors could be incorporated, I could be a dedicated shopper of Susan graver Style.

I would love to see someone, (preferably you) at QVC do a few re-makes of Storybook Knits sweaters. Very nostalgic. Maybe in easy-care yarns, etc. I'm thinking that technology/machinery could knit these novelty sweaters.

There is another thread regarding "pop-it beads" (or "pop beads")...........just maybe you will bring them back in long strands of transparent and/or faceted beads? We can wrap the necklaces around our wrists, etc. Would be a fun retro look! (Just a thought....)

p.s. I vaguely remember those "pop beads" being made of some type of pliable/flexible plastic. They were/seemed indestructible.

Hi Susan: I am a huge fan of your leggings. I wear a petite small. QVC currently does not have any of my size in colors other than charcoal and navy, I have both already. Will you be making leggings in a larger selection soon?

Please reply. Thank you.

Susan, I absolutely love butter knit and liquid as well. I've built my winter wardrobe with your butter knit and liquid knit. I work in an office and I get compliments all the time on my tops. It's difficult to get nice tops that are versatile for the office but you have made that possible :). I also have your leggings in navy love them will you be bringing back the grey? I know it's kind of early yet but will you be having your liquid or butter knit short sleeve dresses for spring/summer? And maybe instead of A Line maybe more straight line?

I also ordered my mom your velvet swing dress with the little bolero jacket for xmas in navy she will love it. It's so soft beautifull dress.

{#emotions_dlg.huh} I love Susan Graver Clothes, but most of them are too long on me, and by the time I go on the computer to see the length, they are sold out. Please Susan, make some a shorter length and please tell the hosts to say the length of the item. I would like to get more of your tops. Thanks.
