Oh Baby! Showered with Style

As promised, I have the highlights and photos from our baby shower extravaganza! It was a beautiful celebration in anticipation of the arrival of Baby Kerr. My mother and mothers-in-law (I have two, lucky me!) put together the shower and all of my closest friends and family members were in attendance.

When you first entered the shower, you were greeted by two towers of pink and green balloons. A talented company in Baltimore called Balloons n’ Blooms created all the amazing balloon features at the shower. Once you walked into the room, the theme of the shower was revealed—afternoon tea party! Delicate and dainty China tea cups were laid out along a serving table as you walked in, and around the room, tiered serving trays held the most delicious finger sandwiches (the smoked salmon and cream cheese was my favorite!), while across the room sat the cake. It was decorated in pink and green, too, with blocks on top with our initials (three different flavors!). Behind the cake sat a row of favor bags for all the guests to take home. Inside each bag was a bottle of philosophy shower gel, a box of tarte lip glosses, a Cheryl’s cookie in a pink wrapper that read “It’s a Girl!”, and custom tea bags.

As the guests rolled in, everyone sat around chatting and eating as the next course of tea was served—scones! I love scones with authentic clotted cream, lemon curd, and preserves. They were so delicious, but the last course was still to come—the mini pastries. I am still dreaming about the pumpkin bars, tarts, and amaretto cake with cream. I told my mother that soon we would have to visit the tea house that catered the shower so I can get another fix! After everyone was finished eating, it was time for games! I had some of the best laughs ever watching the ladies play “Pass the Baby” (like hot potato but with a baby doll), “Change the Baby” (undress then dress a baby doll using only one hand), and “How well do you know the parents-to-be?”

Following the games, it was time to open the presents! A seat of honor, wrapped in pink and green tulle, was placed for me front-and-center underneath a canopy of balloon pacifiers. It was very special and I felt like a queen for a day! We received tons of clothes, blankets, bibs, diapers, swings, bedding, and bathing tubs. This baby is set! After opening all the gifts it was time to cut the cake and say our goodbyes. I had a wonderful time, and we are so blessed to have such generous and loving friends and family.

Here are some photos from the shower:

I also want to give you the lowdown on next week’s PM Style! This show is packed with designer fashion and accessories including Linea by Louis Dell’Olio, Dennis Basso, Judith Ripka, and something very “special” from Joan Rivers. In addition, we’ll feature a beauty gift idea from Sephora for O.P.I. and skin care from Peter Thomas Roth. My "Perfect Pair" comes from Aerosoles (A325278), a clean and comfortable ankle boot in medium and wide widths, yay!
