I once saw a funny greeting card. It had a cartoon of a check-out clerk at his register screaming “PRICE CHECK!” The gag was, he was a checker at the dollar store. Get it... he needed a price check at the $1 dollar store.

I love the dollar store! It’s like a treasure hunt. You never know what you’ll find. Some of my favorite dollar store staples are office supplies like notepads and pens, and crafting and party supplies like papers and balloons. But you can also stumble onto some random items you didn’t even know that you needed. I found a combination lock once, it reminded me of high school so I bought it. It didn’t occur to me until later that I don’t have a locker in my home.

Every year, I participate in a volunteer program for a group of seniors, and some of the things they love best come from the dollar store. So I made my annual trek to the place where everything costs $1, and as usual it was a treasure trove of shopping delight!

I’ve decided to have a little polling fun each week in AM Style. I’m calling it A.M. Either/Or. Each week here in my blog, I’ll pose and “either/or” situation, and I hope you’ll share your opinions. I got the idea when I saw a commercial with a little girl asking questions of a football player. One of her questions was, “Hash Browns or Home Fries?” Brilliant! So let’s start there.
