Good Day, Bad Hair

Hair horror stories - we all have them. One of my all-time worst hair disasters happened in college. I was a student on a budget, and the budget did not include salon visits. So when I got it into my head that I wanted the henna red, asymmetric hair cut that was popular in the early eighties (think Salt n Pepa back in the day), I would have to do it myself. How hard could it be? Color, cut at an angle, and voila! I’m rocking the fierce asymmetric bob.

Things started off well enough. I followed the directions with my do-it-yourself hair color kit. It wasn’t exactly the shade I was expecting, but I could live with it. Besides, the crowning glory would be the cut - angled on one side of my head with a sweep of hair that would cross over one eye. It was going to be FABULOUS. So I grabbed my scissors and began. Snip, snip, snip - not much of an angle. Snip, snip, snip - I’m starting to see an angle but it never looked this blunt on Salt n Pepa. Snip, snip, snip -uhh ohh, I’m above my ear and no more discernible angle. I’ve gone too far - I look like someone gave me bowl cut and only used half a bowl.

There are no pictures of what I did to my hair that day. Thank goodness, because when I saw my self in the mirror, I put down the scissors, picked up my purse and went immediately to the beauty shop.

Bad hair days happen, but great tools can make them a little less frequent. This Friday we will have the first ever Wet-to-Dry Hot Iron from InStyler. The tool that made styling easier is now even better. So be sure to take a look and shop the TSV prview class here!
