Finding the Perfect Fashion Balance

by on ‎07-24-2012 02:14 PM

I think we all know how to be super casual, and how to be all-out "black tie," but how do you strike the right balance if you need to be casual, but sophisticated? Or, dressy without being over the top? It's never easy. So for our last "Speed Style" segment before we begin The Lisa Robertson Show on August 3, we're showing you two looks that strike the perfect balance.

The first look, "Laced with Charm," is great for a number of reasons. This is a wonderful way to appear dressy without being over the top. The lace top from Dennis Basso (A224433) adds a bit of sophistication to your outfit and can definitely be more formal. But, because you're pairing it with pants, you won't stand out if everyone else at the event isn't dressed up. Everyone thinks of a dress or skirt when going dressy, but the pants are a way to make it fresh, and you don't have to worry about whether or not to wear hose. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

The second look is "His is Hers," which is very timely with the menswear influence coming in for fall. The key piece is the ISAACMIZRAHILIVE! Cashmere Boyfriend Cardigan (A211516). Cashmere adds an instant element of luxury, but a luxury that doesn't have to be "fussy." This look shows how a cardigan and denim can be elevated to become extremely finished. The cashmere is a finer fabrication, the cut of the cardigan is a little longer, and the bag is one of the newer textures that you'll see everywhere in the colder season.

If any of these looks put you in a shopping mood (I know I am!), this weekend is What a Girl Wants Weekend on QVC, and it's also Fall Clearance Week! So check in on QVC.com regularly to see if a piece you love is on clearance.

Also, don't forget that this Saturday is Super Saturday LIVE from the Hamptons! We'll be broadcasting from 2–4pm ET, offering all kinds of great items on sale, with all the net proceeds going to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Hope to see you there. We can shop and support a great cause! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

See you Monday for PM Style!
