To me, this tunic is very boho chic. Otherwise known as bohemian or hippie-style, this look is very popular! You've probably now drifted into thinking about the 60's and 70's hippie movement; the "leave me alone and let me be me" bunch hanging out in Greenwich Village in New York. Yep, that's right, but there's more. Go back even further to women such as Virginia Woolf in the early 20th century with her boho 'state of mind': unconventional, somewhat artistic...yep, that's true, too. Now flip back to the original gypsy girls, the nomads and refugees from Europe. For them, clothing was all about simplicity and movement out of necessity.

Fast forward to the 21st Century - the here and now. Boho is all about fashion. Isn't that the way the evolution of fashion goes? And isn't it ironic that now we make deliberate attempts to capture that free-spirited, individualistic, effortless style that's supposed to reflect our actual 'state of mind?' The anti-fashion has become the fashion! Sometimes I catch people looking like this easy 'state of mind' isn't at all where they're coming from. Trying WAY too hard to be boho chic. Too much.
My thoughts are that with a little boho history under your belt (very little, I realize!) you can insert our modern garments with these tried and true elements of the bohemian look (the fabulous colors; the attention to detail; the free-flowing, moveable silhouettes) and remain true to the original heart of the look: easy, moveable, and your own.
