Getting Ready for The Buzz on the Red Carpet

by on ‎02-17-2012 06:27 PM

OK, someone peel me off the ceiling. I’m so excited. This week, we had our pre-production meeting for The Buzz on the Red Carpet (it's going to be a fabulous show), and Courtney and I spent an entire afternoon shopping for gowns!!! Yay, what girl doesn’t like to try on beautiful party dresses? It was our own special version of Say Yes to the Dress. Smiley Happy

Friday, February 24 is The Buzz on the Red Carpet. Lisa Robertson will host, and Courtney and I will provide color commentary. I’ll have the scoop on the star-studded celebrity bash the night before. I’m thrilled to represent QVC at such an elegant and celebrated event.

Oscar season in Los Angeles is unlike any other time of the year, and I’m tickled that I’ll be back in my old stomping grounds for the occasion. While I don’t anticipate having a lot of free time, I hope to squeeze in time for a couple of my favorite things.

I love to drive west on Sunset Boulevard. The people watching is, in a word, “colorful,” and there's so much to “oohhh" and "ahhh” about. The Chateau Marmont is on my right, billboards of beautiful people dot every open space, The Sunset Tower Hotel and The Mondrian are both on the left, and far ahead—after many twists and turns—is the beautiful Pacific Ocean.

I also love dropping into the valley from Laurel Canyon Boulevard. I plan to drive by my old home in Studio City and, while in the neighborhood, pick up a huge serving of Pinkberry (it’s like frozen yogurt, only better!!!).

I’m also thrilled that I’ll be in the same city as a few of my nearest and dearest. I can’t wait to visit with as many of my loved ones as possible. Perhaps I’ll set up camp at a restaurant and ask my peeps to flow through whenever possible. I know it’s kind of crazy, but it just might work. Smiley Happy

But I digress. It's Oscar week in L.A., which means star sightings all over the city. If this is “business as usual,” stars will be stopping by different hotels to visit “swag suites.” Basically lots of companies set up suites where stars come to get pampered, get products, and to pick up their favorite things. You can literally bump into a celebrity when you least expect it. You’ll almost certainly see someone at The Ivy—the famous restaurant on Robertson Boulevard—but you can just as easily see folks dining at Sunset Plaza, walking along Melrose Boulevard, or shopping at The Grove. Folks are pretty much out and about. Believe me, I’ll have my camera ready. Smiley Happy

I’m looking forward to working with Courtney and Lisa. Courtney is a sweetheart. She’s light, lively, wide-eyed, and innocent in a really good way. And Lisa and I always have a great time. We have the same sense of humor, and she's whip smart, insightful, and endlessly curious. Our conversation is fast and furious and we usually can’t stop laughing. On that note, I should probably apologize in advance to anyone flying to L.A. on that early morning flight.

So, back to The Buzz on the Red Carpet. We get to town on Wednesday, host the celebrity gala on Thursday, and present The Buzz on the Red Carpet on Friday. The countdown is on and the excitement is building. Yes, even 18 years into the business, I still have to steel my nerves for certain events. Smiley Happy This is one of them. I want everything to be perfect. I hope you’ll tune in to watch. We’ll do our best to bring all the excitement of the red carpet to your living room (or dining room, or kitchen, or really wherever you have your television).
