Silver & Gold

Hello, friends.  We are here!  It’s Christmas week.  How are your plans coming along?  Today I have been working on my table decoration for Christmas Eve.  As some of you know, I also work as a floral designer for special events.  Christmas Eve is a very special event in my home.  Each year, we host our family and some friends for a very fancy sit-down dinner.

We all know that Bob Mackie knows how to mix his beautiful botanicals and bling, right?  Here is a great example of that: Bob Mackie’s Reversible Embroidered Sweater (A94701).

Well, I have been so inspired by Bob that this year that I am going wild with a little bling myself.  The color palette is silver and gold with a splash of red and accents of green.  Isn’t there a Christmas song called ‘Silver & Gold’?  I think I heard that in a TV special that I recently watched with my children.

I have so much fun planning the look of our table.   I want to inspire you to do the same.  Here is what I did for this year.   Since I never throw anything away, I grabbed a box of old glass vases and covered them with metallic gold and silver spray paint.  While they were still wet I sprinkled them with gold and silver glitter.  Here are some of them finished:

The larger vases I sprayed with gold and then did some designs with glue and glitter.  This is where I felt like I was channeling Bob Mackie.  Isn’t it fun?

We will have a table about 14 feet long, and the vases will go right down the center in a design similar to this:

I did all the flowers in white, using Hydrangea, Ranunculus, Hypericum Berry and Roses.  Green comes through with the berry leaves and galax leaves that I added at the edges.  My splash of red will come from the table linen, which also has gold and silver medallions on it:

I think this will be festive, and I will be sure to share photos with you after the party.

What will you do to give your Christmas table the Mackie touch?  Please share the fun with us here on Facebook.  Remember to follow us on twitter (@bobmackie) and be sure to check in with QVC to see Bob Mackie’s gorgeous line of Wearable Art!

I wish you all a wonderful, safe, happy, healthy and delicious Christmas!
