The holiday season is in full swing, and I’m sure many of you are baking cookies to enjoy with family and friends. I wanted to share with you my mom’s recipe for kiffles:

Ingredients:

½ lb cream cheese softened

¼ lb sweet butter

½ cup Crisco

1 egg yolk

2-1/4 cup flour

1 tsp baking powder  (sift together)

Directions:

Mix by hand – Refrigerate 1 hour.  Make dough into walnut size balls and roll out.   Put 1 tsp of filling in center,  fold one side over filling and roll by hand to form shape.  Dip fork in milk and crimp ends.  Place fold side down on baking sheet.

Bake at 350 for 12 minutes or till light golden brown.

Filling:

Fill with your favorite filling:  Prunes, nuts or apricots
