My Most Unusual Thanksgiving

by on ‎11-23-2011 05:54 PM

My most unusual Thanksgiving ever was the first year I came to West Chester to be a host on QVC. As a new host, I worked the overnight hours, and that included Thanksgiving. My sister Mona lived in NYC then, and since I was the one with the crazy schedule, she came to PA so that we could spend the holiday together. With just the two of us, and because I needed to get a nap in before going to work, cooking wasn’t an option. We called every place that I could think of. But because we hadn’t really planned ahead, all of the fancy restaurants that served Thanksgiving dinner were booked. In 1995, there were very few places that were even open on Thanksgiving. But there was one -- one that was “Always Open” -- 24 hours a day -- every day. That’s right... my sister and I had Thanksgiving dinner at Denny’s! We dined on Turkey Roll with all of the appropriate sides and we couldn’t have been happier because we were together.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time with family and friends no matter where you are or what you do. I hope that you enjoy the holiday with the people who are special to you. And when you have a minute to take a break from the food and festivities, we’ll be here helping to bring “All of the Joy and None of the Craziness” of the season.

I hope to see you all this Saturday at 7 AM ET.

Happy Thanksgiving!
