How Many Bras Does It Take to Fill a VW Bug?

by on ‎11-08-2011 03:12 PM

Thank you, all, for helping the B.R.A. (Bra Recycling Agency) make an impact on our mission to extract the underwire from recycled bras and sell it for a 100% donation to breast cancer research.

Volkswagen filled their Bug with about 1,000 bras — about $80 worth of metal reclamation.

Don't fret…

There are half of a BILLION bras sold in the U.S. each year. If every woman recycled a single bra through the B.R.A. yearly (most women, as you witnessed, could recycle 2 – 20 bras!!), that would be approximately a $4,000,000* (million!) dollar donation...EACH YEAR.

Of course, if every woman threw out 2 bras a year, that's $8 million for Metro Health…

And let’s imagine the B.R.A. has nationwide events and encourages women to trash a dozen bras each — LIKE THEY DID IN CLEVELAND IN THE VOLKSWAGEN — that's $48 million for Metro Health…

Thanks, HKM, Oswald Companies, Medical Mutual of Ohio, and, of course, Volkswagen, for being that WORKING INSPIRATION AND VISUAL proof that it CAN be done.

All my sincere thanks AND SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!

*Reclamation fees are based on collection, the weight of metal per bra, and the metal market.
