The Empty Nest

It is October and James and I have officially been empty nesters for just over a month.  I still can’t believe that my babies are both in college!!  I get asked almost everyday what it’s like not having Lauren and Chelsea at home.  My response is… I have been preparing myself for several years for this life transition. I am so proud of my daughters and the wonderful women they are becoming.

Here’s a photo of my girls in Chelsea’s dorm room. Freshman year is so exciting.

I am counting my blessings even more now.  Do I miss hanging out with my girls, watching movies, cooking together, shopping etc. of course.  But it is nice not tripping over the shoes left in the middle of the floor or listening to them argue about who’s turn it is to feed Buzz (our dog).

I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas this year.  This is the longest that all of us have been apart.  When we come together again this holiday season I think we will all be looking forward to the family traditions we started when the girls were little girls.  The song I’ll be home for Christmas has taken on new meaning to me.  My holiday wish for all of you is that you are healthy, happy and loved by your family and friends not just on Christmas but all year long.

Stay tuned for some more blogs from me about the holidays. From preparing for parties to creating my gift list for my loved ones, there’s so much to look forward to in the coming months.

Blessings,

Jayne
