My Last Week with QVC @L.A. Live and My First Week Back on PM Style

by on ‎10-10-2011 03:09 PM

Hi PM Style Ladies! We're all back together again, woo-hoo! My first week with you and I didn't realize Sandra was hosting until I got there. I was happy to see her but was slightly bummed our girl Lisa wasn't there. Sandra is so darn pretty and sweet so we had a blast together. I hope you enjoyed our time with her as well. I don't think Lisa has any more vacations coming up so we should be back to "normal" here on out. Though I will say I noticed that one of our PM Style shows has been reduced to two hours — how could they? By the time you read this, I bet it'll be next week, so be warned. Hard to believe that now when we start shopping on Monday nights we should keep in the back of our minds Christmas and Hanukah gift ideas. I'm not much of an advanced shopper but you never know what you'll find if you shop early.
I wanted to write a little more about California in my blog because if you read the first three you might be interested in how my last week went. Well, I can tell you right now it was my favorite week out there. Steve arrived! I've never been so excited. I hardly slept that night because when I was going to bed (1 a.m. Pacific) Steve was getting up to get ready for his flight (4 a.m. Eastern) so we talked for a bit. Then I had him text me that he was at the airport, on the plane, taking off, etc., so I was in and out of sleep until the alarm went off to go get him. I had tears in my eyes as soon as I saw him. It was three and half weeks, unless you include the awesome Skype surprise from the week before, that I had seen or touched him. He smelled and looked so good and I finally had my favorite person too hang with in California with me.

Lord, did we eat. Seriously had some incredible meals. That's what we do we like to go out, wine and dine. Our big adventure is deciding which restaurants we like and which night to go to which one. So the first day he got there I took him right to the condo and showed him where I've been living and then we went over to where the studio is. Had lunch at Rosa Mexicano, yum to guacamole and fish tacos. Then I took him all over downtown L.A. to show him where I had been living and what I had been doing. That night we had dinner at Pizzeria Mozza where the pizza is gourmet and the wine list is extensive. So good!

The next day off to Santa Monica for a day of shopping, chilling on the beach, and once again eating. We must've got there at 11 a.m. and didn't leave that night until 11 p.m. Pasta for lunch, steak for dinner, and great clothes in between. Steve is obsessed with T-shirts (don't ask) so he bought a few of those and I bought this really cute vest that I'm going to wear now that it's cooler outside. Also bought Tory Burch flats, I can't seem to stay away from her.

Now, the next day was our best day, Santa Barbara. We took the scenic route there and drove all the way up the Pacific Coast Highway. Beautiful! Kid you not, for lunch we pulled off the side of the road and went to a seafood shack. When I say shack though I'm talking about lobster, clam strips, steamed shrimp, homemade coleslaw, potato salad, and the softest, warmest sourdough rolls. I was in heaven and the ocean was right there, too. When we finally got to Santa Barbara, the sun was getting ready to set and so we shared some fun cocktails and watched it go down. Then off to dinner at a restaurant on State Street which is this charming street with great stores and great food and great people. That night more Mexican food, more wine, but my favorite was dessert. We went to this bakery and I seriously had the best chocolate-covered macaroon ever. Steve had a cookie that was amazing  marzipan on the bottom, chocolate mouse-filled, and then a hard but thin chocolate shell on top. Just awesome.

The rest of the week was great, too. Monday we had a run on the beach, lunch at The Grove, and he went to the show that night. Tuesday I showed him Rodeo Drive and even though the shopping is out of our budget there, we did have a nice time window shopping. Then on Wednesday we only had time for breakfast together and it was back to the airport. Yes, I cried even though I was going to see him in two days. It's tough. If any of you have long-distance relationships I give you so much credit.

Now I'm back and life is good. I certainly miss California and in particular our shows, but being part of PM Style is fab. I have such a good time on Monday nights. Now I will say I am also enjoying Dancing with The Stars this season (didn't like it so much last time around), so I've been recording that and watching on Thursday nights because that's Steve's late night at work and he is not interested in watching. I bet Mondays divide a lot of families, lol. Well, think about it, three hours of fashion, dancing shows, and football. I bet families divide all over the house and watch their fave.

I could sit here and talk forever, but I do need to get my house cleaned. Plus tonight I'm going in for jewelry and handbags so I'm going to prep my cards while I'm home. Great to be back with you all. Hope that I see you on Monday night or in the late night/early morning when I'm on air. Have wonderful weeks and I will talk to you soon. Glad to be back with you!!!

See you soon,

Amy
