As the newest member of QVC's style team, I've been asked to write some thoughts on our upcoming 24-hour event, Accessories Head to Toe.

With bright trends making up much of the season’s clothing styles, there’s never been a better time to experiment with accessories for a simple-to-sensational look. This season’s must-haves include heeled loafers, emerald-colored jewels, and exotic textures.

Scarves are also a must this season. No longer an afterthought to be thrown on over your coat, scarves are the perfect decorative piece. This season, you'll find scarves vamped up with fringe and fur, like this pull-through version from the Joan Rivers Classics Collection seen above. It’s a great way to add luxury without the effort, and layering it over a jacket gives off an edgy Friday-night-out feel. Pair it with a bright-jeweled necklace, skinny jeans, and suede booties, and this look will be sure to turn heads.

At QVC, our favorite choice for an offbeat accessory is a patterned bag — a big update on the runways this fall. B. Makowsky's hair-calf, soft-shoulder bag with matching strap and fringed embellishments, pictured here, is a great example of this look. Pair it with simple work attire to add fun and excitement to this sensational look.

Softer, more delicate fabrics are really coming into style with the influence of lace this year, and accessories are no different. Necklaces, bracelets, and watches are getting the royal treatment, as seen here from the Joan Rivers Classics Collection. These accessories definitely add an uptown feel. Paired with a simple sheath dress and the pop of color from a red trench (see below), this is a perfect outfit for date night.

Gemstone colors look amazing this fall and winter, especially in swatches of silk, suede, and satin. This season, we can spot them on everything — especially accessories. Below, we see Layers by Lizden take traditional cold-weather accessories and brighten them with new colors. The green hue featured here takes on a new twist to the traditional work look, and with the addition of long gold and green-beaded jewels, the colors pop against the neutrals to make an otherwise plan outfit dazzle. The peep-toe oxford, animal-print bag, and tortoise shades really add to the feel, which is great for the modern working gal.

Plaid is another big trend this season, adding a punch to even the most basic of items. Joan Rivers Classics Collection has a signature jacket that transitions this casual outfit from dull to fun and flirty — a perfect piece for brunch with the gals. Adding a touch of sparkle also plays up the ensemble and gives off a more dramatic look.

Lastly, my all-time favorite trend this fall is boots. Although there are many different styles to choose from, these classics have been making the rounds and are a fun way to update all your outfits. B. Makowsky, shown here, took a modern approach to the traditional knee-high boot by adding straps around the ankle. Keeping it simple, we paired them with straight-leg jeans, a collared lace shirt, and a classic neutral trench, making the transition from edgy to cold-weather chic.
