Bob Mackie Presents at the 2011 Creative Emmy Awards!

Bob Mackie will be presenting the Emmy Awards for Achievement in Costume Design at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which will take place this Saturday, September 10th at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.  It only makes sense that Bob Mackie would be chosen as a presenter, since he has won nine Emmy’s himself.  Bob won his first Emmy in 1967.   This was the first time in television history that an award was presented for costume design… I told you Bob was a trendsetter!

Bob will be presenting with his old friend Mitzi Gaynor.  He is really excited about that.  When we spoke earlier this week, he said:

"I am thrilled to be presenting these awards with my long-time friend and star client Miss Mitzi Gaynor.  Mitzi was my first star lady to design for and we have been working together since 1966.  This is particularly apropos because I won two Emmy's for my work on the Mitzi Gaynor Specials!”

Mitzi Gaynor wore one of the first ever, nude, beaded, fringed, Bob Mackie gowns for her number "Let Go," descending from the ceiling and backed by a line of men in black tuxedos and a black reflective floor!

Check out this photo of Bob and Mitzi as he, the constant perfectionist, works on the details of her dress.

Bob is presenting three awards this year: Outstanding Costumes for a Mini-Series, Movie or Special; Outstanding Costumes for a Series; and Outstanding Costumes for a Variety/Music Program.   Bob is going to post a blog for us after the awards show and give some scoop about the night!  Be sure to look for that.

Are you going to watch the Emmy’s this year?  It certainly will be fun to see our own Bob Mackie.  He’s your personal fashion designer as well.  Do you have a favorite “famous” Bob Mackie costume creation? Please share it with us.

Don’t forget, you can shop the Bob Mackie collection anytime on QVC.com! And make sure to check back with us next week to read Bob’s blog about his appearance at the Creative Emmy Awards!
