Women of Worth

Well, as I had mentioned in my last entry - Fashion on the Loose! -  my mom and I were headed out to paint the town red as we celebrated her year- and- a- half long treatment for breast cancer.  Mom's doing great, and I was at times, strangely moved and grateful for the time mother- and- daughter could spend together in a place so beautiful and so anchored in our family history.  Check out Nova Scotia sometime...really!

I read a couple of super books while away; indulged in a little fiction (I usually read nonfiction) and it felt so...well, indulgent!  But I also threw open a magazine, though I promised myself "no work" (yes, believe it or not for me, the days of looking at a magazine for pleasure are seriously over....that's the world of fashion for ya!) and much to my interest I saw an article on "women of worth".  It was an article on women who had done something "particularly fascinating" in the world; a tribute I suppose.  Though I appreciated the intent, I really paused, and then found myself in basic disagreement with the whole thing.  WOMEN OF WORTH?  Every single woman is a woman of great and beautiful and intrinsic worth.

So this is for you, great women of powerful and glorious worth: for every mother, sister, auntie, grandma, daughter of every walk of life and every ethnicity, belief system and let me especially mention Jeanne Bice (whom we'll all miss around the Q) and of course my mom...

you really were created to be lovely, in every way.  Come on ladies, be lovely.

(Hope to catch you this Monday on the Q at 6a.m. and a 1 hour Effortless Style show on Tuesday the 21st at 5a.m.)
