I’ve taken more fashion quizzes than I can count. You know the ones -- you answer a series of questions to determine the type of clothes you like to wear, or should like to wear.
I remember taking a “What Season are You?” quiz at a women’s conference. I’ve had image consultants equate my style to a particular celebrity in order to channel my “Celebrity Muse”. I’ve completed more than my share of magazine tests to determine “My Style Profile”, and on-line questionnaires to assess my “Fashion Personality”. It’s interesting... It’s fun.
The latest quiz popped up on my computer this week as I was searching for something that I can’t even remember now. Anyway, the headline screamed, “Find the Best Fashion for Your Personal Style”. Do tell, I thought. So I started clicking through.
First up -- pictures of five celebrities. They were younger, thinner and richer than me, but I bit the bullet and clicked on my celebrity equivalent. Next, pairs of jeans popped up. Baggy ratty ones, skinny dark washed ones, wide bootleg ones. Again, I clicked on my preferred look. Handbags -- click. Coats -- click. Hairdos -- click. Click, Click, Click. The fourteenth and final selection was Madonna. Vintage 80s Madonna, Vogue 90s Madonna? New-millennium refined Madonna of course -- CLICK.
It took just seconds for the system to churn through my answers and deliver the following:
“Your style is Classic” -- You love timeless, tailored pieces. (Why, yes I do...) You have an easy way of dressing and you are always put together. (Well, not always, but I try...) Your wardrobe consists of button down shirts, jeans and slacks, perfect blazers, tasteful dresses, and a trench coat or two. You also have a drawer full of beautiful scarves and a closet full of gorgeous purses. (Okay, who let you into my closet?)
The funny thing is -- the quiz was right on. My style IS classic. I like clean silhouettes, quality fabrics, and smart accessories. I always have... but it’s nice to have a quiz confirm it!
