My Family's Visit During Easter Weekend

by on ‎04-29-2011 05:17 PM

Hello everyone!  I hope that you all had a wonderful Easter/Passover weekend with friends and/or family.  I was lucky enough to have my Dad, Step-Mom, and Step-sister in town… and boy was it a jam packed weekend. With all the food we ate you would have thought we were preparing for a competition. After I dropped them off at the airport I took a well deserved 3 ½ hour nap.

Have you ever heard of Chickie’s and Pete’s?  It has to be one of my favorite restaurants for French fries.  They serve their French fires doused in crab seasoning… and the sauce? Don’t even get me started.  It’s the most mouthwatering combination of white creamy cheese and butter sauce you could ever imagine.  I knew I needed to take my family to this restaurant, my parents loved it.  It’s quickly becoming one of those staple places I have to visit at least once a quarter.

Next on the list, Jen (step-Mom) and Natalee (Sister) went to a Haunted Penitentiary.  Check out Natalee’s spooky pictures of the site and Al Capone’s cell.

Did you watch our National Makeover Day Show?  I had the pleasure of spending time with our 4 lovely contestants, Melody, Christine, Mary Martha, and Rocio.   To spend time with these women, to talk about their transformations, and then to just get to know them was an incredible experience.  Each woman was so successful in her own right, and such an inspiration to all of us cheering them on.  I was so sad for them to leave QVC… but I can’t wait for them to come back.  Check out this video below to get to know the women a little better and learn about their amazing experience with Vogue magazine.  Also, check out these pictures with My family, Josie and Shoshanna, and my friend Keyai!

After National Makeover Day, My family hit the ground running.  We started the day standing in line at Jim’s Cheese steaks.  It was well worth the wait.  It was by far the best cheese steak I or my family had ever had.  I had opted for the “Lone” (Provolone) instead of the “Whiz” (Cheese Whiz) but did have my steak covered with onions, mushrooms, and peppers. Next, it was off to the Art Museum for a few hours to take in History.  My sister is really into History as well as Photography.  She was in Heaven there!

Have you ever heard of The Franklin Fountain? It’s the most sinful desert place I’ve ever been too. It’s a historical ice cream parlor filled with antiques and soda fizzes.  There’s always a line, but totally worth it.  My dad and I shared a desert called a Mt. Vesuvius.  It’s the richest, most fancy Brownie Sundae you have ever seen in your life.  I have to admit… you get a little sleepy after eating it! I don’t know whether that’s a good thing or bag thing. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Coming up this weekend is BEAUTY BASH. Beauty Bash is an annual beauty event that brings together some of QVC’s most popular on-air products and personalities from the beauty world; it is an event with vendor meet-and-greets, and a lot of fun. I will be bringing you a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on at Beauty Bash, so be sure and stay tuned into our YouTube Channel.

That’s it for me this week. I hope you all had a wonderful week {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}
