Back to School Already?

It’s that time again already, can you believe it? I sure can’t. The summer flew by this year and Back to School is in full swing as we speak.

It’s amazing to me how early children are starting to use PCs in school. I have a 5th grader and a PC is an essential part of his school work so it is critical that we have one in the house that he can use.  Friends of mine have 2nd grade twins and called me about a month ago for a recommendation for a PC for their use. And then there are all of the college students who are about to go off to school (away from home) for the 1st time.

So which PC is best for your student’s situation? I have three recommendations below that I would suggest you look into if you are debating what is best for your children.

  • For the younger student (Elementary through Middle School Ages)- I recommend the HP Pavilion Slimline Tower with 20” LCD Monitor and USB Keyboard & Mouse. This is a great space saving tower design so it can easily fit into smaller or space constrained areas of the home and yet internally this has the power of a traditional Desktop tower. This features 4GB RAM, a huge 640GB Hard Drive, the AMD II 215 Dual Core Processor and a Lightscribe SuperMulti Drive (CD/DVD Player & Burner) & a full Suite of MS Office 2010.

  • For a Family PC (Use for all ages)- The powerful HP Pavilion Desktop that includes the AMD Athlon II 240 Dual Core Processor, 6GB DDR3 RAM Memory and an enormous 750GB Hard Drive. Additionally, this is bundled with a 20” LCD Monitor, USB Keyboard & Mouse, Lightscribe SuperMulti Drive (CD/DVD Player & Burner) and great expansion capabilities.

  • For the College student; (Or anyone looking for a GREAT Notebook PC) I recommend our newest addition to the QVC line, the HP DV6 Notebook PC. This is a 15.6” (Our most popular size) Notebook with a powerful AMD Phenom II Triple Core Processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM Memory, a huge 500 GB (7200rpm) Hard Drive, a Lightscribe Super Multi Drive, the new HP TrueVision Webcam with integrated mic (to keep an eye on your student!), Great Altec Lansing Speakers and this is completely wireless with Bluetooth connectivity as well. Another great feature with this PC is HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection which is included software that can protect your hard drive content against accidental drops or falls by locking the hard drive into place and shutting down the PC--- Critical for the very mobile student or anyone who travels with their PC!

I encourage you to go to QVC.com and watch the videos and read the additional specs included for each of these recommendations and as always, please feel free to ask questions—I am happy to answer them!

Sincerely,

Christine
