Shoot-like-a-pro; Photography Made Easy — 11/19 Canon DSLR TSV

As you can tell, I've had a blast playing with the Canon T3i. You'll notice from a picture on  my last blog how vibrant the colors are with the Canon. That's an untouched pic. So, hopefully you won't hesitate to try a DSLR. There's no reason to be afraid or hesitant. First and foremost, you have QVC’s return policy to help you shop with confidence. If this isn’t the right camera for you, send it back. There won't be any questions asked.

I hope you've had a chance to watch the video I made about our Canon T3i, but I want to take a moment and reiterate my fave features. First, it's as easy — if not easier — than a point-and-shoot camera. Canon put this awesome control knob on top so you can easily access picture settings like portrait mode, low light, and sports. Most other cameras — even point and shoots — don't have this feature. You usually need a map and three guide dogs to lead you to these settings. Not with this camera. Everything is easy access. BTW, one of my favorite settings is the A-Dep. Take a headshot-style picture of someone and they'll just “pop” out of the background. This does all the math for you and blurs the background to give you awesome portraits.

You probably noticed how much fun we had with the chessboard demo. Normally, you don’t think of tossing a chessboard as a sport, but hey, you’ve never played chess at my house. As you can tell with the fast-shutter speed (almost four frames a second), it captures the action and freeze-frames the fast action. Of course, most of us are going to use this for photographing the kids at cheerleading or soccer games, but don’t forget to reach for this during the annual touch-football game in the backyard on Thanksgiving Day. Another ”Dave Tip” for you — this is the digital age. Feel free to snap away…just never show anyone the bad pictures.

Enjoy the Canon DSLR. It's a great camera. I think, when you get it home, you'll be surprised at how easy it is to use...seriously, no math!
