Why You Should Be Excited for the Wii U!

Hey tech fans! I’m still reeling from all of the cool stuff I saw at this year’s E3 — what a show! I know that not everyone is as into video games as I am, but that doesn’t matter. No matter what, I have a feeling that almost all of you, at this point, have played (and LOVED) the Nintendo Wii. Even if your experience with Nintendo’s home console is limited to playing bowling in Wii Sports and golf in Tiger Woods, there’s a good chance you have loved playing games with friends, family, or even by yourself, and even if you’re someone who generally doesn’t care when a new video game or a console is announced, you should still be fairly excited for the Nintendo Wii. Why? Because it has something for everybody.

First, let’s talk briefly about the system’s power. While not everything under the hood is known so far, it has been confirmed that the system will be able to produce high-definition graphics, creating more life-like visuals. In fact, those who are making games for the new console are saying that the games will look even better than those on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3!

But even more exciting is the new controller, which features two analog sticks, two shoulder buttons, four face buttons, a camera, a microphone, motion technology, and a 6” touchscreen. Why a 6” screen? There are a few reasons. For one, it lets you play more fun casual games, like the ones found on the iPad. Games like Othello, Chess, and Bejeweled can easily be played on the handheld, without any need for the television.

But where the screen really comes in handy is when two people want to use the television. Even when the TV is taken, the controller can be used to play games on the screen, so you or your children can keep playing their game when someone else wants to watch a movie. Just think about how awesome that is! It’s almost like having a second television.

If you only have people who play games over on occasion, like grandchildren or neighbors, it still has plenty of uses outside of playing games. Nintendo has said that they plan on connecting it to all of the social networks, and showed off the touchscreen being used, with the television, to browse the Internet. You’ll be able to check out Facebook, Twitter, and your favorite websites (like QVC!), all with your television and Wii U — no computer required.

And if you’re someone who already has a Wii, there’s even more good news. The Wii U lets you use every Wii game, accessory, and controller, so you can still play Wii Bowling on your new Wii U without having to switch out the old system for the new one.

This is just the beginning. With year before the Wii U hits store shelves, there’s still plenty of time for Nintendo to make more fun excitements. So, what are you looking forward to the most?
