Kicking Off My Boots and Lacing Up My Sneakers!

It’s time to hit the streets of Philadelphia with some of the most amazing women I know.  This weekend is the Susan G. Komen 3-Day 60 Mile Walk for the Cure.  This will be my seventh year participating in this amazing event.  My team walks in honor of so many survivors, and in memory of too many women we have lost to this disease, including our beautiful team member Elise, who we lost at the young age of 31 as we were busy training and fundraising together in the summer of 2008. Elise was so full of life, and dedicated to putting an end to this disease.  She was a top fundraiser each of the years she walked, and I am so proud that our team walks on in her name. We are the top fundraising team in the Philadelphia event for the third year in a row.  Over the past seven years, we have raised over $700,000 through the loving support of family and friends.

This weekend is always a special time to reconnect with my team, as 60 miles of walking means 60 miles of talking!  No cell phones, iPods, or other distractions are allowed while walking.  I love it!  These three days are all about sharing stories, meeting new friends, and taking in the sights along our journey.  The thousands of people who come out in support is truly heartwarming.

On Friday, as we walk by many schools along the route, children line the sidewalk dressed in pink holding signs and cheering us on.  A high school band comes out marching, and cheerleaders perform routines customized for our cause, including “No bikes, no scooters, you’re walking for your hooters!”  The volunteers who feed us, encourage us, and help us treat our blisters have become great friends over the years; we couldn’t do this without them.

Before I hit the road, I wanted to thank you for our wonderful 10 hours together last month!  I love reading your comments about the pieces you have received, please keep sharing.  It sounds like you are loving your Sincerely Fabulous necklace and enhancer set!!  I am so happy. The stories many of you have taken time to share on the QVC Community Stories feature are incredibly touching.  You have brought me such joy, and many tears of joy.  Thank You.

I’ll be thinking about all of my Sincerely Sisters this weekend, thankful that you are in my life.

Sincerely,

Carolyn
