Is it hot where you live?!?!?

by on ‎06-08-2010 06:30 PM

Happy “humid-hot-sweltering oh my gosh my hair is frizzing!” summer everybody!

Um yes. Thank goodness for a/c...and I don’t want to see my monthly bill because it will only make me cry.

Had dinner last week with my good friend, Lori Greiner. She and her husband Dan are top-notch, lovely, such precious friends to me. Anyway, Lori has a bunch of shows coming up (you will probably have already seen them by the time you read this!). Anyway, she’s launching this awesome nail kit with instant quick dry drops, some sort of smudge-fixer solution, and her wildly popular manicure keeper that somehow, can keep your nail polish from chipping over time. I highly recommend picking it. Wedding season is here...the mani/pedi is raring to go...and this stuff looks great. P.S. We had spectacular dinner. I ate scallops, lamb, and tuna tartar...Lori had fra diavolo pasta, and Dan noshed on sea bass and crabcakes...if anybody cares! Smiley Happy

Just got done kicking off Kathy Van Zeeland luggage Today’s Special Value and oh my gosh, was it popular. I own the steel gray. Spinner wheels, how cool. Finally you don’t have to do the “slant & drag” to pull your bag. It stands on all fours and just glides. Hey, since Kathy is married to Bruce Makowsky, this seems like a natural segue. Ugh, have you guys tried his leather shoes? Holy moly...I'm in love with the thong sandal that looks like Western cowhide (A200399). I can’t lie, I think his sandals almost trump his bags...that's how good they are. (I own A188335...haven’t worn it yet though. Bum ankle factor.) Course, while looking at his sandals, I saw the coolest bag. Think it's new to his collection, A98164.

Big Whats in Shawns Beauty Bag show coming up at 6p on Monday 6/21. Can’t reveal all the goodies in it but i think Dr. Perricone is going to be there with something I just started using this week. On the neck. Wink, wink. BTW, I just did a beauty solutions show last night. You guys, there is this incredible little coil gizmo that at first I was skeptical of, and it removes facial hair. Have you heard of the bellabee? It’s customer top rated and I'm both picky and pain-averse, so I seriously wasn’t sure about this thing. Apparently it mimics the ancient Arabic/Asian technique of threading. Well, it didn’t hurt on me and it doesn’t require a mirror and it takes multiple hairs out at once and my chin is now smooth like a baby's bottom now. I say check it out (when it's back in stock cuz we just sold it out).

Started using bareMinerals. For the longest time I wasn't a convert...until now! It's so great in summer when it’s hot and sweaty to not have to wear goopey liquid foundation. I barely wear makeup outside of work anyway so this stuff, including the Summer Bisque concealer, just evens out your complexion and you don’t feel like you’re wearing a thing! I realize I’m only just getting on the bandwagon, and no doubt all of you are like, "Shawn, tell us something we don't already know!” Sorry. At times I can be a late bloomer, but now I’m all about BE. I wear medium beige in the foundation…and I love the bronze bareMinerals. The eye colors are addictive indeed. It’s just my totally new exciting little discovery. That paired with Laura Geller Nice & Nude lipstick (my favorite shade she makes), her Tahitian body and face bronzer for quickie touch ups around the legs or neck (which I'm gifting to my church friend for her pale legs at a wedding in a few weeks), and tarte lights camera action mascara, are all my current faves.

I’m kicking off a Breezies Today’s Special Value this Friday June 11th with my other dear gal-pal, Kalina Gendel. Announcing...the fashion cami that sucks you in and makes you look skinny! And the colors look like you went to Boca Raton…corals and turq's and lavenders. B-U-tiful! BTW, feel like I'm dishing a lot of product scoop today, but if you’re looking for a super comfy, great everyday tee shirt bra, I live in A43416 from Barely Breezies. Just a thought.

Waiting for a/c guy to come. Hate that "window" they give you so you’re just sitting around, waiting for a doorbell to ring. Grrr. Have to get PT on my ankle. Still swollen and very sore lately...because I pushed it. Played Wii bowling with David Venable on Saturday Morning Q show and when I won (which I never do because I’m sports-challenged), I did a self-indulgent victory dance around the set. My ankle the next day was not happy with me. That's what happens when you act all proud and full of yourself. Smiley Sad

Think I'm going to sponsor a child in poverty in either Mexico or farther afoot. At church this past weekend (ugh the band was amazing! we totally rocked out!) they had a whole presentation about the organization, World Vision. There's another one called Compassion International. The work they do in countries to help build and support self-sufficiency for these communities is awesome. Water wells, farming, schools...they give kids a chance. I was just inspired because $35/month can literally change a life. I mean, when you read the statistics, like...on average I think it said African women walk six miles a day to get clean drinking water. Americans, on average, walk six miles a month. We are just so blessed. So lucky. So unaware of how good we have it. Sorry, preaching.

Five best friends from high school coming...has now turned into six. They get here in two weeks. Soooo excited. Did I tell you that I made them all goodie bags with QVC treats? And this week they deliver the bed for my basement because every last room will have gals in it. Pool, eat, maybe Sex and the City movie, brunching, bonding, and a tour of QVC, is on the agenda.

Ok...think FedEx just dropped me treats on the porch. OH, and a/c guy just got here.

Yay!

P.S. OH, ladies, totally forgot. Am so excited and hope you'll watch. Monday June 14th at 1 a.m. ET, after the Barely Breezies Today Special Value presentation, I am launching a premiere hour of Bliss Spa! I have been going to them for 15 years, ever since I lived in NYC and used to go to their SoHo location. Ugh, such an experience. But not stuffy and uptight like a lot of spas. A cartoon character of a girl is their mascot, and you could eat for days in their spa service waiting room — the spread is incredible (cucumber water, brownies, cheese, gourmet crackers!). Their products are like going to the spa...without ever going to the spa, which is so great because for a lot of us, we can’t go to their spa! It's going to be the coolest hour with products that all mimic services you get when you go to Bliss...including an at-home bottled version of their most popular, most-booked, most-requested facial…AND a device their estheticians use to clean your pores when you get a spa facial. It's going to be such a fun hour so I hope you stay up late and tune in.
