That’s the American Dream, what makes this country amazing.  “Pursuit of Happiness” is the phrase I love the most – it looks different for every person and how you pursue your happiness can involve some risk.  Dreams are not always right there within our grasp.  We have to reach for them, strive for them, and take that leap of faith.  I’ve shared my story with all of you over the past four years but for this blog, I’ve asked another face of IT Cosmetics you are familiar with (you see her on air at QVC alongside me) Jacqueline to share her story, as I hope it inspires you to dream your dream!  She’s been beside me and part of IT Cosmetics from the very beginning.  And when it comes to “The Pursuit of Happiness”, Jacqueline definitely took a personal leap of faith…when she joined IT Cosmetics, because she believed in taking a chance with me to start a company that aims to change the lives of every woman who tries our products, to not only solve beauty problems in a new and innovative way, but to give back, to make a difference, and to commit to not launching a product unless we believe it is truly life changing. This was a big, bold dream we were about to embark upon!  Starting a company, or taking a career risk to join a new one is truly risky, but that is one of the best parts of living in the USA, we can dare to dream! I started working for IT Cosmetics in January of 2009, 5 years ago.  It was a really exciting time professionally and personally.  I was employee #3 at a start-up company I believed in and I was pregnant with my first child.  Looking back, it sounds crazy – instead of joining a team that was established with a clear foothold in the cosmetics world, I jumped on board with a brand that was in its infancy, because I truly believed in IT. But honestly it was a bit scary to dream so big and take a risk on something I believed in that couldn’t necessarily offer me long-term security at the time, especially since I was pregnant!

My beautiful son Julian was born in July of 2009, around the same time as Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer came into the beauty world.  It was poetic timing- a product made to cover the darkest of under eye circles and me discovering just how little babies actually sleep at night!  Bye Bye Under Eye changed my life at the same time my sweet son did. It’s wonderfully terrifying being a new mom.  Here was this tiny person who had become my world…and I was working so hard at a company that wasn’t making a profit yet!  While sometimes my head questioned if I was making the best decision as a mother with someone to care for, my heart and my husband supported what I was doing.  We knew that IT Cosmetics was more than a start-up…it was a company that was going to change the lives of women everywhere!

The biggest, hardest decision my family and I made was to move from Los Angeles to the East Coast where IT Cosmetics was relocating in order to grow.  On New Year’s Eve of 2010, my husband Eric and I toasted the upcoming 2011 with Julian asleep on my lap as we flew on the redeye from our home, our family, our friends, and moved to New York.  Everything we owned was in a moving truck and we were starting a new life with IT Cosmetics, closer to QVC in West Chester, PA.  It was so hard to leave California, the only home Eric had ever known, but we knew it was the right move for us.  We were pursuing our happiness! Five years ago, I hoped that the reward of the great risk I was taking at IT Cosmetics would be worth it.  And it absolutely has been!  I am part of something bigger than myself, part of something special.  IT Cosmetics isn’t just makeup, it isn’t just a cosmetic line.  Inspiring confidence and self-love by solving woman’s beauty problems is my passion and fuels me every day. I now start my mornings off by seeing my beautiful inspiring son, and then spend my days inspired by all of the things we’re doing at IT Cosmetics and most importantly by all of you! Hearing from you, from our IT Girls online through Facebook, InstaGram, and Twitter – it’s amazing to share in your stories!  And I am so honored to share our products with you live on QVC, I am so passionate about them because I know first hand how they've changed my life and the lives of all of the women I know. I am also so passionate about the integrity of IT, what an honor I get to be part of this! I took a risk, but am truly living the American dream. I hope my story in some small way inspires you as well!
