Me and m-EYE Shadow

The eyes have been called the windows to the soul.  They tell everyone in an instant what you are feeling and thinking with a wink, scowl or flutter of your lashes.  Let’s give our eyes the attention they so deserve.  Eye shadow palettes are my favorite cosmetic to shop for.  I love variety and being able to get different looks with eye shadow.  From the dramatic smoky eye to a very natural look, women of color, from lighter skin tones to the darkest of tones can have a lot of fun with a few simple tips.  I asked one of our professional makeup artists, Lia, to share a few of her secrets.

First you have to start with a primer or base.  The base should be really light, off-white to light beige (it looks really scary at first but it will neutralize your eyelid color).  You can also use a light concealer. Cover the entire eyelid.

Start building color lightest to the inside of the eye and blend out.  Use a lighter shade under your eyebrow too.  Blend, blend, blend!  Use the darkest shade in the crease.  Start at the outside and work in to the center.  Then, blend, blend, and blend.  Use multiple brushes to keep the colors pure.  Once you are happy with the look use a light concealer right along the brow line and blend, blend, blend for an instant eyelift.  Finish with an eyeliner close to the eye lashes.

You can extend out to the corner of the eye for that dramatic cat eye.  False lashes are optional.  We have quite a few eye shadow palettes available on qvc.com.  Here are a few I like.  And don’t forget the base.

EYE hope you like your look.  {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}
