This month I spent two weeks in China (you can read about it in last week's blog). The air there was so dry! In fact, "so dry" is a gross understatement! By the second day, I was worried there were bedbugs in the hotel because I was itching so much. I know that sounds gross, but I was starting to freak out. Turns out, it wasn't pests - it was the extremely arid air. Suddenly, I understood why so many people at work in Beijing had humidifiers on their desks.
Fortunately, I had packed my WEN oils. I'm a huge fan of Tea Tree Eucalyptus oil on my head because it almost immediately takes care of a dry, itchy scalp. Plus, it makes my hair so much healthier. I try to sleep with it in overnight every time I know I am going to cleanse my hair in the morning. Some weeks, I do better than others with remembering. But in China, it wasn't just my scalp. My whole body needed Wen!
Fortunately, Chaz Dean, the creator of Wen, had suggested I take extra oil. When Chaz talks, I listen! I put some Fig Sweet Orange Treatment Oil in my bag, and forgot about it. On my third day, I remembered that oil. It was a skin saver! Every morning, after I got out of the shower I added a full dropper of oil to my Wen body lotion. My skin was so dry that it absorbed almost immediately. I didn't have to wait to get dressed. The relief was immediate! At night, I would rub it into my cuticles.
After sleeping with Tea Tree in my hair every other night and using the Fig Sweet Orange every morning, I think I actually came back with softer skin. This is definitely a routine I will stick to now that I'm home.
By the way, I'm actually writing this blog with Remoist in my hair, under the dryer at Chaz Dean's salon. I was planning on writing this blog anyway, just figured I would multitask today. As soon as I came into the salon, Chaz touched my hair and said, "You've been using the oils more! Your hair feels great!" How funny is that?!? I swear he has an uncanny sixth sense when it comes to hair!!
This is the first blog in my new "Pick Me!" series. As a kid in school, I was never picked for teams (you don't want to see me throw a ball.. not pretty!) So, now as an adult, I'm picking my own team... my beauty team. Each week, I'll share something I am using or review a new product. If you have a product you would like me to review, let me know. I'm open to suggestions. You can comment here and please join me on my Facebook page – Sandra Bennett/QVC. Have a good week and a great hair day!
