Christmas 2012...Bah humbug! to New Years...and Wedding 2013! Plus, thank you and God Bless!

Am going to Nashville for Christmas (incidentally, gifting my brother and sister in law the 'Nashville' TV series soundtrack for Christmas). Cannot wait to get there. Sloane is 7yrs old and in love with Justin Bieber. Baby David is a wiley coyote and has a mop head for blonde hair that is so cute I just want to eat him, squeeze his cheeks, and bite his butt. There will be mornings when I try to sleep in, but Sloane bursts into my room at 6am to play dolls. There will be moments when I try to have a heart to heart with my sis in law and the baby is screaming so loud none of us can hear. I will be in my PJ's 24/7 (barring the one night we plan to visit the famous Bluebird Cafe) .. and the only downside is that it's bleeding my bank account to have to ship all the gifts down there. Christmas is at my place next year.

Few things I got people - Baby David, Twister Trax. Sis-in-law, PJ's from Carole Hochman (the exact ones I own, the 'conversational' set). BFF Jenny asked me to order her the Clarisonic MIA. Done. Stocking stuffer for Mom, Stander metro car grip bc if she keeps leaning on my poor dad, they're BOTH gonna wipe out. Brother is potentially getting GO Smile toothpaste in his stocking (I love the stuff). Only had to go to mall for one thing this year - Dad's cologne - and the crowds and 20min wait to get out of the parking lot, nearly broke my spirit and patience. The nicest person becomes really un-nice when you have to live through that experience. So I've done virtually everything online. Whoop whoop!

Planning a wedding and planning Christmas has been a little crazy, so will be glad when one of those two is behind us...whichever comes first. Ha! You all have asked about the big day and our plans. I'm keen to keep most of the details close to the vest cuz it just feels more special that way ... but I will spill a few wedding beans - Joe and I are getting married in the Spring. Small, rustic, chic, quirky. I think we are getting married in a greenhouse and the reception will likely be in a barn. Someone recommend to me something called a "Naked" cake which is apparently a whole new trend in cakes. Looks delicious and I love the quirky idea. I don't plan to wear a wedding gown. I'm vehemently opposed to paying thousands of $$ for a dress I will only wear once then hermetically seal in a dry cleaning bag for life. So I'm going "off the rack". Something long probably, like a special occassion red carpet / black tie gown. Not even sure I'll wear white. Am thinking out of the box. Maybe I'll do Isaac hot pink. Oscar DeLa Renta has an incredible black and white striped gown that inspired me to think out of the box (granted, Oscar's "box" costs about $6000 so sadly that gem will not be in the running). And Joe and I plan to have a very small group of family and a few friends there. Very intimate. More like a fab dinner party for your closest & besties.

New years is around the corner. I must admit, I hate the silly holiday. Think it's the most overrated holiday. All that pressure to attend some big blow out party where there is a magical midnight kiss or VIP guest list. Nope, instead, always have preferred staying at home to going out. And with age, my PJ's, orthaheels, bottle of champagne and TV set look better every minute. As for resolutions, I say it every year, and it never sticks. Work out more. 40 has caught up with me and I can see my muscle tone and skintone changing dramatically. So i really want to find the time to make my physical health a priority. But frankly, working out stresses me out. I just think of all the things I should and could be doing instead of peddling a bike or walking on treadmill, and I begin to get fidgety. Must be my OCD / ADD ... multitasker personality. If I could make phone calls and send emails while working out...then I'd be hooked. BTW - I'll be with you for New Years, kicking off the long awaited and much asked for TRIA laser hair removal device FINALLY approved for use on the face, not just the body. If you're tired of shaving, waxing, and the embarrassing chin hairs (I've had em) lip hairs (crushes your self esteem to have a mustache) then I hope you'll join us when the clock strikes 2013. It can all change in the new year. You can be free of hair, the maintenance. This new device is quicker and easier...and for the first time, we will show you step by step in a full hour of TRIA that has us lasering live on set.

I wish you all the safest, merriest Christmas and holiday. Thank you for your friendship in 2012. In 2013, I hope for you .. joy, healing, victory, comfort, hope, and great love & friendship. May something you have struggled with, be set free. May something you have worked for, seem within your reach. May something that hurts on your heart, begin to heal. And may you realize that you are beautiful and blessed, just as you are. Life is hard, but it can be made easier by having each other. Let's be kinder, gentler, more patient with one another, in 2013.

Lastly .. may we keep those families in Connecticut in our prayers. It is unspeakable their grief and suffering. And so close to Christmas, it is unimagineable to me how they can breathe. May God shower on them comfort, protection, and mercy for all they are enduring. And may they know that when there are no words, the silences carry the thoughts and prayers of all who love them, even those who do not know them.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, dear friends.

God Bless,

Shawn
