My Argan Oil Obsession & Catching up on Comments

by on ‎06-22-2012 05:15 PM

I love everything about argan oil—its history (Moroccan women have been reaping its benefits for centuries), its purity (it’s so pure, in fact, that it’s an ingredient in some traditional Moroccan recipes), its results, and the California-raised supermodel and supermom who brings it to us. Aside from being absolutely beautiful both inside and out, Josie Maran is a genius.

Almost every time I use her Deluxe Argan Illuminizer, it doesn’t go unnoticed. Sometimes, its eye-catching luminescence even compels complete strangers to ask me about my makeup. When I want my face to have a subtle, all-over glow, I mix the illuminizer with liquid foundation and it shines through ever-so slightly. For an extra hint of glint, I dab it directly under my eyes, along my cheek bones, and even on my eyelids instead of a shadow. It helps my skin look instantly healthy, radiant, and bright. I can’t get enough of it—especially for summer. All you need is a small pump at a time.

Josie’s Argan Oil with Bonus Color Stick is extra amazing. The 1.7-oz bottle of argan oil has made it onto my list of the top three things I’d want to have with me if I was stranded on a desert island. It has filled so many voids in my beauty regimen that I didn’t even know existed. Before bed, I use a drop as a moisturizer right after washing my face; rub some into rough skin like my elbows, knees, cuticles, and calluses; run a dab through my split ends; and do a quick, full-body onceover with any leftovers on my hands. When it was time to break out the flip flops and expose my toes, my feet were so dry that I was too embarrassed to go get a pedicure. After just a few overnight applications, my only worry was what color nail polish I was going to pick when I got to the salon.

The bonus-size Color Stick is adorable, but more importantly, it lets you try out the product before taking the plunge with larger-sized tubes. (If you try it and like it, go for the Argan Oil Color Stick Trio.) If I go anywhere without a color stick on my face and/or in my bag, I feel naked. Before I leave my apartment, I go through my mental checklist: keys, phone, wallet, color stick. I put it on the apples of my cheeks with a stippling effect and gently blend it in with my finger in a circular motion. You have complete control over the amount of color you use. It leaves skin fresh and dewy and adds just a kiss of shimmer. It can also be worn as a creamy, slightly cooling lip color.

Argan oil has infiltrated many other steps in my daily beauty routine, too. If I’m running late in the morning, Bohemian Waves Argan Hair Mist saves my hair day. 4–5 sprays on damp hair, a few scrunches, and my locks look and feel like they were misted with salt water—perfectly tousled and soft. Bare Naked Argan Wipes effortlessly remove makeup without overdrying, leaving skin fresh and clean. The Whipped Argan Body Butter Duo in Jasmine and Ginger is the richest, most luxurious cream I’ve ever treated my body to. I keep one jar at work and one at home. They smell like aromatherapy heaven and make your skin feel like supple silk.

Now onto some overdue responses:

@Karsa: Thanks so much for the warm welcome! Did you try the philosophy fresh & floral 3-in-1 gel trio? I ran out just in time for last week’s Clarisonic TSV, which included orange pineapple smoothie. It’s a delicious scent to kick off summer!

@Harpa: Thank you, too, for the kind reception! I wish I could take credit for the muffin recipe I mentioned, but I can't. It's from Food Network's Sunny Anderson and is appropriately titled, "Sunny Morning Muffins." You can find it on their website.

@ICPurchases: Thanks for your constructive feedback about how we can improve your fragrance shopping experience! It’s my pleasure to report that fragrance notes are now in the works!

@KURLYLOX: It’s nice to meet a fellow “makeup geek!” I’m so glad you enjoy the QVC beauty experience and I’d love to hear your stories! They’re always welcome here. Smile
