Life is precious and I am blessed.

It's been three weeks since the accident that almost took our son, Ryan, 16, from us. Our lives could have been drastically changed that night, but God spared our son and reminded us how precious life is and how quickly it can be gone!

What happened? Ryan and my husband, Mark, were stopped at a red light. An SUV heading the opposite direction was waiting to turn left. When the light turned green, Ryan, who was two weeks away from getting his license, started going forward, but the SUV decided to turn left before the oncoming traffic got into the intersection. The SUV was accelerating and plowed right into Ryan's driver’s door, which cut his head several places with one gash cutting through an artery. He almost bled to death. They had to cut him out of the car and take him to the nearest trauma center.

They were eventually able to tie off the bleeder, do a CT scan and sew him up. He is going to be fine and Mark came out of it with bruised ribs. The fact that both of them didn't break bones and are going to be okay is only by the grace of God and a miracle.

I've hesitated sharing all these details with you, but I finally decided I had to share my lessons learned. First, I'm reminded how each day is a major blessing and that I need to hug my kids and husband every day and tell them “I Love You!” often. Life gets busy, but we can never take our loved ones for granted!

Also, even though Ryan did everything right, you have to drive in such a defensive way. Mark and I are so cautious when we drive now, because you never know what the other driver is going to do. I encourage parents with young drivers to share my story with them. Perhaps it may cause them to slow down and drive more cautiously. I hope it saves their life!

It could have been the worst day of our lives, but thank God it wasn't! God is so good to us! Our family is so grateful to all still be together. Tell those you love how much you love them every day. Life is precious!

I'm spending a few days with my family this week loving on them, so I'll be back on QVC on Monday, June 25th. “See” you that morning at 9am ET!

Counting our blessings,

Mary Beth
