All Access Beauty: Confessions of an On-Air Beauty Sales Manager

by on ‎04-11-2012 01:30 PM

My name is Marissa Pawlowski. I'm an On-Air Sales Manager for Beauty. I'm incredibly organized, very detailed, and always setting an example for how to keep all of the proverbial beauty ducks in a row.

This is clearly evidenced by my desk.

My Desk

Well, my desk is where all the information lands at the end of the day, but the truth is, I have the terrible habit of keeping too much stuff in one place…

Me

I’m not sure which is scarier…

So, On-Air Sales Manager…what does that mean? Not what many people think. My job isn’t about managing the items that we sell or choosing the new brands that come in to be soldour Planning and Merchandising teams do that. On-Air Sales focuses on HOW we sell things on television. How do we sell things on TV when you can’t touch the products or try the colors on? The secret is in the stories. I just pulled these seven lips out of my handbag (there are more…but I think this proves my point).

Lip Gloss Galore

I can tell you what makes each of those products different and say nothing at all about the color. Every product that we sell stands completely alone, with a unique story to tell. Sometimes it’s about the formula. Sometimes it’s about a key ingredient. Sometimes it’s about the person who created it. As the On-Air Sales Manager, it’s my job to partner with our guests to help tell that story on the air.

I love my job because I know what a difference feeling beautiful can make in a woman’s life. It has nothing to do with being the woman who stops traffic or gets all eyes on her when she walks into the room. It has everything to do with feeling confident and happy. Having the right lipstick (or seven) in your beauty bag for any occasion is important. I understand that. And I try to bring that point of view to work every day.

Not to mention…we get to do some fun things every once in a while as well! The “model” in this Mally video…is me!!!!
