Makeover Your Winter Nails!

by on ‎05-21-2014 04:32 PM

Cold, dry weather and dark days can be harsh on our skin and nails, with 5 weeks left of winter, now it the time to prep clean, moisturized, and well groomed hands to show off those Spring trending colors! I asked the ladies from Team Julep for a little help with this process and they gave me six easy steps to prep your nails for Spring!

Step 1: Soften

Use the Julep Glycolic Hand Scrub to whisk away dry, dull skin cells and make way for softer, smoother, young-looking hands.

Start by dampening your hands and gently rub a quarter-sized amount of scrub on the backs and palms of your hands.

Step 2: Prep

Use the Julep Vanish Cuticle Softener & Remover and use a couple of drops at the base of each nail.

Let it soak in for a second or two, and then use a cuticle pusher or orangewood stick to push back your cuticles.

No matter how dry your cuticles are, there is no reason to push too hard, the Vanish will do that for you!

Wash your hands again and you will already notice your nails looking cleaner and more conditioned.

Step 3: Shape & Buff

Using a buffer block, very gently file, buff, and shape your nails into your desired finish.

The buffer block has two different sides: one with a finer grit and one with a coarser grit.

Use the finer grit for filing, buffing, and shaping the tip of your nail.

Use the coarser grit to smooth any deep ridges on the top of your nail

Be gentle because over-buffering can make your nails thinner and weaker!

Step 4: Treat

Apply Oxygen Nail Treatment to each nail – one or two layer depending on your desired glossiness or tint.

Oxygen is more permeable than normal polish, so it gives your nails a chance to breathe while strengthening and hardening them at the same time.

The Oxygen Treatment will give your nails a gorgeous shine with a pale pink tint, so your nails get healthier and look chic doing so!

Step 5: Heal

Once the Oxygen has completely dried apply the Mighty Nail & Cuticle Serum. The Mighty serum contains peptides which work to build keratin (for stronger nails) and collagen (for softer, healthier cuticles).

It comes in an easy applicator, and you only need one half-turn of the wand per hand.

Allow the serum to completely soak into your cuticles to reapply twice daily for best results.

Step 6: Moisturize

Once you’ve let the Mighty soak in and dry, sit back and gently massage your hands with a quarter-sized amount of Rock Star Hand Crème.

The shea butter, glycerin, coconut oil, and vitamin E work to keep your hands hydrated for hours. The clean and floral scent will get you ready for spring!
