Spring Style and the Dakota Satchel

The weather is finally warming up! One of my favorite things about spring style is the introduction to pops of color. I think we can all agree that spring brings joy with its refreshing warm weather and bright blooming flowers!  I took a lot of inspiration from this feeling when designing my spring collection which includes a very special piece, and my personal favorite, the “Dakota” satchel!

I wanted to create a new, fresh silhouette for the spring… The perfect ladylike satchel that accommodates both a businesswoman and the fashion forward lovers. This idea came to life when the "Dakota", a triple entry satchel, was formed. The SEVEN hidden compartments allow for a multiple purpose handbag that fits anything any woman could ever need throughout the day.  It has the perfect mix of zipper compartments for security and slip pockets for quick access. The handles make it easy to perch on your arm for a daytime look while the shoulder strap makes it easy to throw onto your body when going out at night.

Us ladies love to carry a lot of stuff in our handbags, so I kept that in mind when developing the removable and adjustable shoulder strap.  I also added a shoulder patch on the strap which gives extra comfort for shoulder support. As a NYC girl, a multipurpose piece is always appreciated and makes style and life that much easier for me!

Now that I had the right size and silhouette of the bag, I was ready to get creative with the details. Some of the spring trends that I focused on for my spring collection were studs, geometric shapes, and animal prints.  In order to get that feeling, I used shiny goldtone hardware that perfectly contrasted my bright color palette. The tumbled super soft leathers make the bag look and feel extremely plush.  The "Dakota" features an exclusive detail that you can only find in my collection... the Egyptian pyramid hinge hardware!

It is just the right balance to compliment the diamond size gold dome stud details traveling along the front and back of the bag. With cheetah being such a huge trend for the season, I decided to mix in baby cheetah calf hair trimmed with black tumbled leather to one of the color options in the collection... Believe me when I say it’s definitely an eye catcher!
