Getting Ready for the Holidays

by on ‎11-25-2014 02:15 PM

Thanksgiving is here and the holidays are just around the corner! While this time can be a joyous respite from the daily grind, travel or a packed calendar can bring on stress. I travel a lot for media appearances throughout the year, and below are some of my strategies that keep me on track:

Keep It Clean

When I’m in flight, I make sure to wipe down my close surroundings—including the tray and armrests—to avoid picking up germs. I suggest bringing your own blanket or a big comfy sweater and pillow if you plan on catching up on sleep and/or know you always get chilly on planes.

Keep It Simple

When traveling, I don’t have time for a complex beauty routine, so I always bring the TULA Discovery Collection. It contains the four key products I need for great skin in travel-friendly sizes that don't take up space in my carry-on. This collection helps combat the harsh environmental effects of traveling on my skin.

Keep Moving

Between the cold weather and the many social engagements the holidays bring, it's easy to get out of your regular exercise routine. Big mistake! Now, more than ever, you need the calorie-burning, stress-busting, and mood-boosting effects of physical activity—so stay disciplined and keep moving. Where do I spend most of my time at our office holiday party? It's not the bar or the buffet…you guessed it, it's the dance floor!

Keep It Calm

Let’s face it, traveling for holidays, preparing meals, housecleaning, and dealing with family members can be stressful. My working-mom mantra is quite simple: ask for help, don't put it on yourself to do everything, and, most importantly, find ways to stay balanced. I find balance in my regular meditation practice. There are many free online tools that can help get you into the practice or maintain an existing meditation routine on the go.

I want to wish everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
