Birthday Blog

November has always been a special month for me. Not because it’s my birthday, just because I love Fall and the lead up to Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the autumn months always feel like “old soul” months, which I am, for sure…an old soul.

If you missed my birthday snapshots on FB, thought I’d post here and share some more deets. For starters, I turned 42 on November 2nd…but on November 1st, this gorgeous arrangement showed up at my doorstep from Mom and Dad. (Mom has such impeccable taste and she likes to do ‘sending flowers’ a little different. From Olive & Cocoa … magnificent!)

Next up, we commuted into downtown Philly for an overnight complete with friends and surprises. Except behold, why does every city look like this on a Saturday night???? (The only thing that makes me more antsy and annoyed than traffic jams, are those 1-800 automated numbers where you never can get to a REAL person!) Nonetheless, wine and sushi were in my near future so I kept cool. Priorities.

Went to Morimoto Sushi. Love sushi, really good sushi, bc there is really bad sushi, and I had always wanted to try this Iron Chef restaurant…

Made friends with the Sushi chef. Total art form what they do. You must order the Wasabi Fried Rice. Divine.

Next up, time for my gift. My husband writes the most amazing cards, he’s a really tender dude. (Shh don’t tell him I told you that)

I am so excited!!! He got me Andrea Boccelli tickets in NYC!!! We are going to spend the whole day in the City which I love, have lunch at Fred’s at Barney’s (which I love!) and pal around before seeing Bocelli who apparently does not do many live concerts. I cried when I opened the gift. Sap I am.

Next day, Sunday, we visited the Rodan Museum…

And the Philadelphia Art Museum. I just love staring at the brushstrokes.

Leaving museum, decided we needed some lunch and stumbled into most adorable, witty cozy pub, The Dandelion in Philly. My new favorite. (The burgers will rock your world)

Only thing I did not do on birthday, was eat birthday cake. Funny huh??!! No worries, with the holidays coming, there will be plenty of sick indulgence. In the meantime, Joe and I can’t wait to get back to Philly for our next city excursion. The countryside brings peace and quiet that is good for the soul. The City just makes us feel young and alive. Want to be one of those people that has a house in both! Must keep working to finance large dreams. The End.
