Did You Watch Project Runway All-Stars Last Night?

Which Designer do you think had the best outfit?

I loved Viktor’s outfit.  It reminded me of Lady GaGa does red carpet.  The gown was not for the faint at heart.  It was captivating and made a presence.

I’m so excited that Michael won!  He really turned his garment around from that Granny Smith colored frock he started with (I was a little worried when he first started his design).  I loved that his design looked like it was a thicker wool material, because that allowed for the green color in his cocoon design to really pop.

One of our own designers, Lori Goldstein, has an Avant-Garde designed Cardigan that goes along  with this week’s winners design.  What do you think? Could this be your new Avant-Garde piece?

Which Designer surprised you the most?

Irina’s dress wowed me tonight.  It truly looked like a work of art.  When you talk about taking it to the limits of Avant-Garde… Irina’s was museum quality.

Which designer’s look did you not like?

Jeffrey’s design killed me tonight! Although the fabric was gorgeous, I could not get over the lampshade propped on top of his models head! I didn’t see a scorpion at all. I give him props on defending his garment when talking to Isaac, but when you’re talking about a fierce/violent inspiration his look felt odd and out of place.  I have to give him credit though, his design was the most extreme of the entire night and maybe that’s how some people view Avant-Garde.  Thoughts?

If you could pick one of these designers to revamp your closet, who would it be?

I fell in love with Melissa’s original caged design, which looked like her model really did have four sets of spider legs wrapped around her.  Tis the season for dark glamour (Halloween of course!) and I would have loved for her to revamp my closet with that edgy sophistication she put down that runway.   Who cares that it wasn’t Avant-Garde, her look was HOT!

How do you make the Avant-Garde look work for you?

Avant-Garde is hard to incorporate into an everyday lifestyle.  It’s not meant to be worn every day; and I can appreciate that.   I think some of the best ways to experiment with Avant-Garde is within jewelry and accessories.  These items can be worn with the simplest clothes and when you’re looking for that WOW statement piece that is a fashion forward work of art, start with jewelry and accessories.
