Adventures with my Dad in Philadelphia

by on ‎10-31-2013 01:53 PM

These past few weeks have been full of excitement! My father came into town all the way from Melbourne, Australia! Seeing him has been a blast! With my family so far away I’m always longing for their company. Sometimes those distant phone calls and video chats on my computer just don’t do the trick. When my father announced his plans to come visit me in New York I couldn’t have been more excited!

The excitement got me started on planning all of the activities I could possibly fit into the short two weeks he would be around! I decided to bring him with me for one of my shows at QVC and give him a tour behind the scenes!

With the colors of autumn surrounding us I thought I would embrace the beauty of the season and take a trip to Philadelphia to check out all of the historical landmarks the city has to offer.

We started at none other than the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This institution houses some of the most reputable artists of all time! From Claude Monet to Vincent van Gogh, the Philadelphia Museum of Art was impressive to say the least! I’m so glad my father and I were able to see some of the greatest works in history on display!

There was one piece in particular that stood out as unique and inspirational: The True Artist Helps the World by Revealing Mystic Truths by Bruce Nauman. This neon lighting piece was unique in design, fabrication and artistic expression.

Next, we took a stroll around the city to admire the architecture of Philadelphia. We stopped at the famous Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was adopted and the Constitution was signed. Within these very walls America gained its independence! How’s that for an American adventure?

After a long fun-filled day with dad it was definitely time to enjoy some delicious food and a big glass of wine. After many glorified reviews from locals we sought out Philly’s best Greek restaurant, Estia. The whole experience at Estia absolutely exceeded our expectations! This restaurant is a must if you are visiting Philly!

Cheers!

The trip was just perfect! My father had a wonderful time exploring New York City and especially Philadelphia!  I’m sad to see him off, but I know it won’t be too long until another member of my big family comes to visit! I can’t wait!

I’m off to bring my father to the airport! Until next time!

But first, what’s YOUR favorite American landmark?
